I spoke to Hittman personally and he said Dre just decided to not produce for Hittman for reasons unknown to Hitt. Maybe Eminem got more of Dre's attention. But I don't think it was because of what Steele said -- because he was just "average." If he was average I don't think Dre would have had him on Chronic 2001 in the first place. That being said, I'm surprised another major label didn't sign Hitt, or Hitt didn't pursue other labels. I thought he'd be the next big thing. "Hittman at ya service! Highly Intensive Tongue Talents Makin' All Nervous!"

Glasses is correct. Hitman was nice. I was one of the listeners that was like where is he at? There was a late KZbin video saying that he had some deaths and family issues along with some other things that made him decide to step back. He actually Was a LA rapper that had bars

I absolutely understand where Glasses is getting at tho. If you're not from NYC, slurred speech, varsity jacket, demin jeans limping, walking through dirty ol' concrete hell. I can't really picture you liking Illmatic. I can imagine WC's 1st album catered to cats who rock khakis, chucks, ridin thru Cali sunshine, West Coast slang, C- walking & talking type cats.

niccuh aint nothin overrated about illmatic. that shyt soo great even songs im not a fan of i gotta show appreciation to. songs like " one love", "the world is yours" i didnt always like even slightly, but as time grows i had to give them some kinda acclaim. " the world is yours" ive grown to like alot throughout the years. " memory lane" is a timeless classic that will never get old

Steele needs to go back behind the scenes. Then he tried to front on a fire verse by Hit.

Glasses you bugging af! Illmatic from top to bottom⏸️ with the beats & lyrics. You must be too west coast or to young at the time it released. When it came out, nothing sounded like it sonically.

From a sonically sound wise, Illmatic was not melodic to someone from the south and the west coast. The beats were grimy, very NY and very boom bap. Im from Texas and I love hip-hop from everywhere. I like Illmatic to but I love It Was Written. Another thing is down here in Texas, we didn’t really know about Illmatic because it wasn’t promoted like that. The album didn’t sell at that time in 94. When It Was Written dropped, that shit was everywhere and was promoted heavily. My older sister bought the tape at that time. I didn’t know about 1994 Nas. I first heard Nas in 96 when It Was Written dropped. I was 10 at the time and his videos were on MTV and BET everyday. I listened to Illmatic years later and it’s dope. I like the album though but I can’t put it over every hip-hop album.

@@user-Tripleggggggg you right because the way mac dre (rip) gets all the love in the bay I went n checked his music out and I wasn't impressed so I feel you but we talking about illmatic with dope asss beats and straight to the point lyrics none of that lyrical miracle shvt just straight raw hood intelligence. That seems like the perfect listen for a intelligent inner city ni88a.

@@SoulOfTheSouth oh naw I wouldn't put it in my top 5 because I'm not constantly going back to it but I def put it in my top 15 9/10 album for me. No lie I just listened to it was written this yr n yes I agree it's a little more enjoyable to listen to. But all my top albums are either southern or westcoast shit fasho. And some midwest
