Smallest coaching staff in the league too. We hardly have any interns or assistants working in the background helping on the micro level. Tomlin has to micro-manage everything. It's all his way or the highway. He calls the shots on defense. His defense is outdated and only works when you have all pros at nearly every position as the defense looks clueless if any of the starters miss time. He will play "his guys" over the better player every single time until the very last minute (Mason Rudolph should have started every game last year and anyone with eyes and a brain could have told you that). We have the most conservative boring offense in the league because that's what Tomlin wants. He doesn't care about fast starts when in reality most teams get out to a big lead early so they can dictate how the other team's offense will play them. I was watching a Gruden video on Barstool Sports where he was talking about his days where he and Andy Reid were coaching assistants working under Mike Holmgren with Brett Favre. They had a friendly competition in drawing up plays and seeing which ones Holmgren would use in the game most. There's a reason those coaches went on to have quite a bit of success and Holmgren won a lot of games in the 90's. He delegated effectively and his assistants went on to become great coaches who spawned even more great coaches with the same delegation style like McVay, Shanahan, and weirdly enough Tomlin himself. Dan Quinn didn't settle for just any OC just because they have NFL experience. Dan Quinn went out and got Kliff Kingsbury and they've been aggressive in their moves. Kingsbury was set to go to Las Vegas and probably waste the year trying to fix their QB situation but Quinn knew he wanted Kliff. Quinn had his best year in Atlanta when Kyle Shanahan was his OC.

I've been a Steelers fan since I was 5 in 1975. I have never been as disappointed and uninterested In this franchise as I am now. Even in the 80's I still had a belief that the franchise could turn it around. The current Steelers offense is easily the least talented I have witnessed. It's pathetic. The defense is full of overpaid underacheivers. Mike Tomlin is an average coach that inherited a team full of stars. He squandered it! Art 2 seems happy with mediocre football.

There’s been plenty of times in my life that I’ve had to talk myself off the cliff so to speak. I was able to do it because of faith in the team, that feeling of hope lasted for a long time. Hey, next year belongs to us! I haven’t felt that way in many years. How much longer will Rooney tolerate a stagnant team by allowing the coaching staff from the top remain? Who knows. How long will we be on the QB carousel? Who knows? Will a losing season change anything? The issue here seems to be that Tomlin is TOO close the game and the details on a daily basis. He's so locked in that he's lost the ability to even recognize the gradual "bigger picture" nuances of how the game has changed. It's like If you spend time everyday with a person who puts on 35 lbs. over the course of 2 years. Every day you see them, they don't look any different than the day before. But to someone who hasn't seen that same person in 2 years, the weight gain would be blatanly fucking obvious. Well, it's like THAT for Tomlin and coaching. I like to listen to the Draft Dudes podcast and they had a great point when the Broncos traded for Sean Payton. You dont need to trade for a good coach when there are so many good candidates out there that could be had for free without giving up a potential all pro player in draft picks. I think it's dumb for the Steelers to not entertain the idea because we could really use some additional first round picks and Chicago could actually use the stability Tomlin provides. With the long leash and freedom we give coaches, we would have the pick of the litter when it comes to coaching candidates that can bring our team into the 2020's effectively. I realize Tomlin has a no trade clause, but someone needs to step in and say if you don't want to get traded, then we will fire you because you are way too comfortable with stagnant results year in and year out.

The Rooney’s are so enamored with the story of ‘coaching stability’ that they seem to place a higher value on that continuity vs. the actual team results. They accept MT’s >.500 yearly record as sufficient success, in spite of mouthing dissatisfaction last year with year end results. Now, a year later and after another egg-laying finish, in 2025 they’ll keep the same coaching set up. As MT would say, ‘obviously’ that is more than acceptable to them. Hey, they’re still making millions each year, so why worry? Unfortunately, the status quo is not acceptable to 90% of Steeler nation, whose ranks I firmly believe will be dwindling. An epic NFL franchise is spiraling due to collective mismanagement, both in the front office and on the field, and it’s so sad for those of us who’ve followed this team for many decades. I can’t imagine keeping the passion when the team is clearly ok with perpetual C+ performance.

I am getting tired of the Rooney's because they don't care about the Steelers fans. The Rooney's and Tomlin is all talk with no action. If there are no changes in the off-season the fans should be disappointed and I will root against the Steelers. I don't understand how you stick with Tomlin since he hasn't won a playoff game since 2016.

meh... id rather see the Ravens vs Chiefs as they have the best chance to beat the Chiefs. Plus the Ravens represent the North. If we can't do it, and won't until Tomlin leaves, then it should be someone from the North in the SB.

who cares about the playoff loses if we not going to the superbowl? Look at all the teams that make the playoffs and lose! At least they had a chance to advance and play for the bowl ! Tomlin’s gets the team to the B playoffs every year year giving the team the opportunities to advance and get to the Super Bowl that’s his job !
