In this film breakdown, we take a look at Pittsburgh Steelers rookie CB Joey Porter Jr., the 1st pick of the 2nd round in the 2023 NFL Draft. So far this season, JPJ has looked as good as advertised, despite playing a limited number of snaps. However, every time he is out there, he is locked on to his receiver, allowing almost no separation. Last week, he replaced Patrick Peterson toward the end of the Ravens game, and ended the game by picking off Lamar Jackson, while covering Odell Beckham Jr. in the endzone. By all indications, he should be the starter moving forward. In this video, we analyze what he's put on tape so far, and what to expect from him in a full time role.

Patrick P is really struggling, and it's making the Steelers' secondary look bad. Starting Joey will help their secondary and will help Joey's development. Thanks for another great breakdown.

JPU missed a huge read in Zone, if the Ravens rookie hadnt stumbled, it was 50 yards, . Pat is teaching to read and developed the lad.. If the Steelers Lines keep getting rolled over single coverage will kill them.. way too dependent with single coverage instead of saftey over the top letting WR's run free.. He will get there, in time i hope, its not athletism but reading,, not loving anyting about the Stelers ATM

Good breakdown, can you do the other Steelers two rookies Broderick Jones and Keanu Benton? I'd really like to see what Jones offers vs Dan Moore. I think Benton is going to be special, I'd like to see the film.

You would think he would have earned his starting spot but for some reason the Steelers love babying their draft picks. They already came out after the game and said his role wouldn't expand yet. It's the same thing as Broderick Jones and Keeanu Benton, they were just forced to play them due to injuries, even though Dan Moore was terrible to start the year. It's just the Steeler thing to do.

Look how Steelers waited till game 4 with KP which was smart was three teams whir started rookie qbs all of them took beaten sand got hurt actually think it was 4 starters this year and CJ was only one who didn’t get hurt so I agree on bringing rookies along slow for first 5 games so they don’t get hammered either hurt or play real bad and then their confidence takes a hit I use to think that same and start them right away but it’s proven fact to Waite for about fifth game

Yeah the best corner back on the team should be on the field way more than he has been no matter how young. JPJ has Steeler blood n he's a player. Another bad coaching decision, I mean WTF.

I’m excited about JPJ but Lamar had an absolutely dreadful throw there. He threw the back shoulder fade and left the ball inside. JPJ just needs some patience. Him getting got on double moves is all over his tape because of how aggressive he is. I like his development but I will forever trust the Steelers development and when to play people.

@@kltsin I agree the Oline sucks but KP can make a read. I think you’ll find digging into it KP has had an absolute brutal start to his season because he’s faced an absolutely brutal gamut of defenses. (And Houston which was a horrible game by him without question but they did some interesting things pressure wise)

@@VinegarAndSaltedFries I am from PA, watch all NCAA games involving Penn state or the Panthers. Thank you for noting KP has been against tough foes but the browns just kicked the 49ers ass. yes it takes time for O to be better but . Again most of his passes are because he has no targets or time. maybe he could be but as now it doesn't matter. Shitty team especially on Defense

Happy for Porter in his play so far but frustrated Will McClay passed on him. OL Bergeron or Porter would’ve been a better allocation of draft capital & roster building than Mazi.
