And remember that tomlin had 77 on the bench for way too long, and kenny hurt his rib because of that. He's been better protected since, but Cole has been a huge vulnerability. Bad coaching creates these situations.

@@alexm2889 Tomlin knows the rookie wall exists. They were winning while the rooks were learning. Rushing them in could do more damage than good. You may not agree with that philosophy, but I'll trust Tomlin and his 17 years in that seat. The biggest problem is they don't really have another center on the team.

I've always though Mitch has all the talent necessary to be a great QB, it's just a question of mentally does he have it to be consistent. You just never know when hes going to completely meltdown and make a crazy decision and turn the ball over. Case in point, earlier this season vs Jacksonville, he gets in a rhythm and completes a fantastic drive to score a touchdown that gets us back in the game, very next drive, rush of blood to the head, throws a deep ball directly into coverage and gets intercepted, and it wasn't even a forced error.

Center and line coach for sure. Cole is awful, can’t even snap the ball anymore. Pat Meyer had a bad oline in Carolina, though it was a bad hire back then and he hasn’t changed my mind :(

I have been saying this for months, the only thing that's going to happen to Kenny Pickett is he is going to get hurt. The Steelers offensive line is almost the worst in the NFL when it comes to allowing pressure on the quarterback. A long time ago, even in that lame Matt Canada era, where the Steelers seemed to love throwing the ball 3 yards, there was pressure on the Q.B. Pickett would either be staring in the face of defenders about to smash his pumpkin or he was so sure it would happen he did not take the time to find open receivers, he figured he had not time, find the first guy and throw. It's like someone who is always slapped when they open their mouth, all the person who does the slapping has to do is raise their hand and the other person flinches. Kenny flinches, because he knows what's coming, a trip for a M.R.I. or X-Rays. As for Mitch, don't be surprised if he gets hurt and guess who ends up being the quarterback?

Besides being a disappointment, for the defense too (I would add because of their lack of internal DL talent), this O-Line is atrocious. They can't snap the ball, they can't make protection reads, they miss easy one v one assignemnts. Just a mess and it is going to ruin any QB they put back there until the offensive line is addressed.

Bears fan here. Sometimes I feel we treated Mitch poorly and he may still have something to offer. He looked good on Your highlight reel. Better than our QB play last week.

Honestly, how much of an upgrade is Mitch Trubisky or Kenny Pickett over Mason Rudolph? Pittsburgh wasn't ready to draft a QB and bargainshop in FA's! A better option was to replace Pouncey, DeCastro, and Tuitt.

i think we see the beginnings of a real serious QB in pickett. a lot of these young guys that come in run a lot and make things happen with their feet, then they get hurt and it's' obvious they can't read the field. he is a pure pocket passer (minus escaping the pocket early sometimes...fixable though) and reading the field well. This video showed one example where he made a mental error, but you gotta remember he is really in his 2nd week and just starting to learn again under new OCs. That said...Cole needs to go. ASAP

It is obvious that he has no field awareness. The play he got hurt, first he rolled right into the defenders, he does this all the time, but just a littel pocket presense and not panicking and rolling away from the pressure, austin is wide open. The other drive allen robinson is open. I dont know if you can coach that, you either have it or you dont.

you can definitely coach that. he was definitely rattled by all the canada ineptitude, but that tendency immediately improved dramatically the second canada left. He's shown us over and over that he can hang tight in the pocket and make tight throws with pressure. He learned this from getting massacred for a full year and he's already unlearning it. stop throwing him under the bus despite the evidence in front of your face.

I have always contented that he has til the end of next year and reevluate, unless he is just so terrible before then, but I dont think that will be the case. I really like pickett and he wants to be great.

there are always open recievers that QBs don't see. it literally happens to the best QBs in the league all the time. Go through your progressions until the pressure comes. that's the game.

It’s a progression thing. That’s a man beating play he recognized they were in zone and immediately shut it down bc the cover 2 corner can jump it for 6. Also you gotta take the snap into account it threw off timing.

Kenny hasn’t shown that he’s better than Trubisky by any stretch. And he wasn’t exactly projected to be. He certainly isn’t a big enough upgrade to use a first round pick on. I think he was a terrible draft pick. He’s not at all the guy who’s going to become a good franchise QB, but he might’ve been worth taking in the 3rd round if he was there. He’s certainly not worth a first round pick just because they needed a QB and he was one of the best available. He’s just not the guy. I bet there are at least 28 teams who would say “no” if you asked them if they’d like to roll with Kenny Pickett for the next 5 or 10 years. He’s no better than the backups in the nfl. Mitch was a much higher prospect than Kenny and Kenny never had the potential to be any better than Mitch. Their offense is certainly not going to be any worse with Mitch. In fact, it won’t take much for them to be better without Kenny. I feel like they have a higher ceiling with Trubisky starting. Kenny hasn’t done a damn thing to show he’s better

And history has shown a million times that projected success from a 1st rd qb is meaningless. it's all about reading defenses well and making the throws, and kenny has been doing that really well.

This man has good arm strength... (Throws a 35 yard pass) :| I feel like Kenny has weak arm strength compared to most other QBs in the league and he's inaccurate. He doesn't look at more than 1 or 2(at most) options to pass before he pulls the trigger.. 13 TDs 13 INTs, and just in his 2 seasons playing as QB he has 1 seasons worth of passing yards. Dude better wake tf up and play some damn ball.. He's not looking good, and now he's injured. People have too much hope and ignore his statistics. They are below average, period. Stop hyping this man up. He's running out of time.

Most young QBs don’t go through more than 2 progressions. Most modern day offenses are good enough to scheme guys open on early progressions and get the ball out of QBs hands. Ben’s first few seasons he would look at his first read wasn’t there he would play backyard football.

You got it wrong. He’s not “learning the offense” same plays , they didn’t add any new plays just tweaked a few. He’s better off going in starting w/o Canada, all we can do is hope for a better game plan & QB play.. I think that Mitch will outplayed KP8 as long as he GOES THROUGH IS PROGRESSIONS!

KP goes through progressions, mitch stares down recievers and that's one reason why he gets picked all the time. Somehow people are parroting that kenny doesnt, probably because they don't actually watch any analysis like this video. Kenny constantly pulls the safeties with his looks and reads the defense well. It's obvious if you look at the details.
