Brian the RB’s are on rookie deals, as are George and Calvin. The free agent wr’s that they have are being paid appropriately. Don’t spend money on players who aren’t worth it. TE’s are on rookie contracts as well. Pat F will get money that he is worth. The guards are the most experienced players on O-line the rest are on rookie deals. So the Steelers are spending appropriately based off talent and experience that they have right now.

Fields needs to sit for 3-4 years before he can even think about challenging Russ’s shadow.😆 There’s always a battle. Russ is approaching it that way. Fields appears to be approaching it that way, but Fields lacks the accuracy, the ability to read defenses, and the overall field generalship to overtake Russ.

Fields work ethic has been questioned before he can change that but I feel like that will take some time. It took Geno years to bounce back from a bad situation. You guys are talking like Russ is Alex Smith and Fields is Patrick Mahomes. That’s not the case at all. Russ is superior to Alex Smith, and Fields is nowhere near Mahomes. I realize that Fields is more often compared to Lamar Jackson and Cam Newton, but he’s not either of those guys either, and Russ would have beaten both of them out too. As great as Lamar Jackson looks, he hasn’t led the Ravens to a SB. Fields doesn’t have such a huge advantage over Russ athletically that it compensates for Russ’s clear advantages in every other area. Anybody expecting Russ to be replaced after a year is going to be surprised. Russ is still an elite QB. I saw enough last season under Sean Payton to believe that. And Seattle and Denver had AVERAGE-TO-HORRIBLE TEs. Russ can throw over the middle from the pocket, and he did it with Seattle. One team he destroyed from the pocket while throwing over the middle was the Steelers.

Justin Fields isn't a rookie, he's a QB who has had a different Offensive Coordinator every year of his career thus far. Justin Fields needs receivers who can actually catch & O-Linemen who can actually block - not watching Russell Wilson. Conversely, if Fields is on the bench there will be a bidding war for him by the NFC teams that faced him twice a year... ... i.e the teams the Bears General Manager forced to go with their plan B, before making Justin Fields available. On the bright side, the Steelers will have a trade opportunity for the current QB of the team that lands Justin Fields

He had throwing issues. Kirkochains called for Mooney because he knows he was poorly used. DJ Moore had to make most of his plays around the Line and get a bunch of yac. Kmet was underutilize. Justin Fields needs to make faster decisions with the ball. That will fix his oline issues. He needs to fix his throwing that will fix the wr not catching his ball. Finally he needs to sit like Patrick mahomes did to absorb the game and better understand the how to win games.
