60 Years of listening to live music, then TV (Top of the Pops). How old am I? In later years LPs, Tapes, then Cassettes. These days it's Netflix, Spotify et al. In all that time, I have never seen a performer who enjoys themselves on stage as as much as Maddy does.

Back in 1977 I heard Allison Grose on WXRT (Chicago). I ran down to my favorite record store (owned by an old hippie and his wife). He played me some of their songs on his record player. I thought this was the best thing since the Beatles! I bought 5 steeleye Span LP's on the spot! Good times!

------ STEELEYE SPAN is my favorite Folk band. I was at this concert.. after more than 45 years of waiting... I went from Brazil to England to fulfill one of my most desired musical dreams. It was one of the happiest nights of my life. Not only was the concert perfect in every way, but I also had the privilege of speaking in person and getting autographs from the dear Maddy Prior. Definitely, that night I was able to prove that Happiness really EXISTS.

I think I heard this once on the radio a long time ago and did not realize that it even was the ballad of Thomas the Rhymer at all. On KZbin about five and a half years ago I discovered a whole bunch of Steeleye Span videos and this song was among them and I was pleasantly surprised. Hadn't actually known that this particular ballad was being sung by modern groups (even though I'd almost certainly heard it before but hadn't known what I was hearing). Maddy Prior is the queen of elfin music. ^___^
