Just wanted to say that you brought back memories that are in my dreams every night. Also tears. You see I moved to southern California in 2005 after I got married and raise a family. My passion was hunting and fishing. Steelhead fishing was however my favorite. My dream was to be able to come back yearly with my children to share with with them the thrill and beauty of northeastern Ohio steelhead fishing. I recognize where you are fishing ,simply because I have fished every tributary on lake Erie from PA to Cleveland. Thank you for this video . I'm sharing it with my teenaged children and friends. Keep em coming. Subscribed and watching. Huntington Beach , CA 👍

Hey Nate, I feel like in the last few years there has definitely been an increase in pressure all over, including that area. Still can have quiet days though. I remember a longg time ago you were finishing your masters at UT and posted about some of your work. I'd be curious to hear how your career has ended up! I'm working on my masters right now. Shoot me an email frayd@mail.gvsu.edu if you see this! Thanks!

Somewhere here it was mentioned about a fish bleeding bad that was released......if it's not a gill rip which will bleed a kid out pretty dang quick its all good. Mother nature saw fit that fish have the ability to get blood congealed extremely quick. If you get one that's bleeding belly it for a bit and you should see the stain end rather fast. They'll hit a slack spot and it's body will recover fine, it's better than sliding a planer board back in the drink you failed to let recover from the stress of over play or even a bonk on the head along the way. Bleeding sucks for those who don't have an interest in smoking or cooking fish a fresh fish. Ever see a bunch of Steelhead on the stream banks zippered open just for eggs...? ,,, by someone who can't tell a spawned out fish from a male to begin with. Let the bleeder show you they are are okay then thet'll be fine.

Brooo! That 1st fish should've went to the frying pan or smoker. Anytime you hook a fish deep or towards the gills, carefully inspect the fish 1st. We all make mistakes but that was pretty negligent. Also you guys in the Midwest love to kid yourselves into believing a lake run rainbow is a steelhead lol. Just appreciate you caught a big trout and don't be afraid to keep a hatchery planted trout once in awhile(yes those great lakes trout are mostly planters) especially if it's squirtin blood all over the place.
