Isn’t it crazy how different they fight? Much stronger and typically more of a wild fight. I think I’ve also noticed that where you hook them makes a difference in how they fight as well.

Subscribed to see the fishing, then saw you were giving a rod away. Theeen you caught a fish with while drift fishing! That's my favorite way to fish for steelhead. I make my own yarnies too. But I prefer a corky and gob of eggs if I have any. I'd use that rod the same way. Drift fishing is becoming a lost art with bobber and beads being so popular.

Those are fresh water leaches making your first had been in the river a while. Sea lice with tails last with trails for 24 hours Ave up two 7 days total.

Drift fishing is definitely very deadly. I’ve just found that I can get away with a little bit more when I’m float fishing as far as not getting snagged might be worth trying out.

That last fish looks like a misclip hatchery fish. Regardless - good release! it’s sharp and it doesn’t look like a thumb or elongated at the top.

Really nice video man! I used to run a similar setup with the bead dropper but i took it off because when they bite the top hook, the back one whacks them the whole time and they seem to come off more. Just something to think about.

I don’t usually see leeches on fish other than coho that are stacked in slack water log jams up against cut banks where it makes sense to collect leeches but winter steelhead are so hot and spawn so fast after entering the rivers I wouldn’t expect a chromer to have leeches but hey you learn something new everyday nice video man!

Maybe you should have a bobber rod and another rod w/o a bobber. The yarnie had a bigger profile and was likely easier to see and held more scent. Bi-Mart in your neck of the woods has many varieties of scented gel and scented eggs on sale right now. Might be worth a look… Salmon and steelhead like them and the Great Lakes steelhead crowd ties the synthetic eggs in spawn sacs. Could be a series of videos whenever the rivers blown out and you’re home thinking about more interesting content to feed your subscribers.👀 🤫💡
