Hey, I enjoy all of your stuff but have a suggestion for something to add to your videos. It would be helpful if you could compare the rubberized side grips between different mice. For instance, I can't use the Deathadder in its stock configuration because after a few minutes, the rubber grips become so slippery that I can't pick the mouse up. Since it may be difficult for you to predict whether other users will suffer issues that don't apply to you, it could still be useful to compare the grips to those of other mice. For instance, if the Rival's rubber sides feel the same as the Deathadder's, then it would be a no-go for me, but if they are substantially different, then perhaps it would be worth a look.

I've had the G403, G Pro, DeathAdder Elite and now the Rival 310. Gotta say I found the Rival 310 the best of the bunch. The only downside is the slight rattle of the main clicks which the DeathAdder Elite has a variation of as well, it just feels mushy in comparison. Unlike the DeathAdder Elite I could actually get used to the Rival 310. Overall far less annoyances than the G403, G Pro and the DeathAdder Elite. Better coating than the G403 and G Pro (huge deal), better side buttons (no piano black finish that gathers gunk), better sensor placement than G403 (took weeks to get used to), better scroll wheel click/steps (also no god-forsaken wheel rattle) and better cable. G403 is slightly more comfortable. More comfortable than the DeathAdder Elite, better scroll wheel click/steps, no rattle, slightly better side buttons (due to the shape), lighter overall and better cable. The scroll wheel on my Rival 310 manufactured in 2018 does sound better than yours does in this video. Perhaps they made some improvements. It's insanely good for bunnyhopping.

This exactly how I felt. I had the g403 for 3 weeks and it started to produce a rattle. I took it back to store and got 310. I have old 300 but prefer the shape of 310.

I have been using this mouse for a prolonged period of time, and can offer some more nuanced circumstantial feedback that might be useful to any potential buyers that most reviewers may not be reasonably able to provide from short-term use: Firstly, the mouse does deserve all of the praise poured onto it; the dimensions and weight distribution are ideal for me/the recommended size (19:10), and allows for flexible grip variations, as mine is not always stable depending on what movements are required, and for this the rubber grips are a great benefit and do not wear with time. The remainder would simply be a repetition of the above video. However, there are some qualities regarding my person to take into consideration that make repurchasing this mouse difficult, that is those with naturally oily, excess skin/dusty environments/etc, or with very warm hands may wish to reconsider for the following reasons: - An oily complexion means this type of plastic requires frequent cleaning as it blemishes rapidly - A dirty environment to any degree means that dirt will tend to accumulate within the cracks - below and between the primary and side mouse buttons, as well as within the grooves of the grip. Although using a thin implement is perfectly reasonable, it can become an issue because of the following point. - Those with naturally warm hands will find that after extended use and during an extended play session the heat from their hands will begin to melt the glue that attaches the side grips. In this state, the glue can travel within or to the base of the mouse, mousepad , or the fingers, resulting in potential temporary inconsistencies in movement and dirt accumulation around the exposed areas. With the overall amount of glue reduced, the grips are less secure and the above state is achieved with reasonable consistency; at around 1:40 the the side grooves, where the fingertips may come into contact with, is where adhesive residue can accumulate. Because of the above reasons, after wearing the plastic contacts sufficiently that a new mouse is in order, I am forced to consider an alternative, which is difficult because of the unique rival shape.

I've been using the Rival 310 as my daily driver for a long time now (Around 1 year to be exact) and here are my view on it: *Sensor:* Zero problems, tracks incredibly. *Shape:* Very comfortable and ergonomic for right handed users. *Mouse 1,2 and 3:* All seem to be working as new, zero problems and mouse button 1 and 2 do not clash with each other like some mice might do. Furthermore, scroll wheel has good grip and good to use *RGB Feature:* Very easy to use the software and make it any colour you want. Other mentions: If your hands are even a small bit sweaty the top plastic will become slippery and shiny and you have to wipe it frequently. But once you stop sweating its fine.

One year after using this mouse: The plastic grips on the side have rubbed against the mouse pad causing them to peel the off. The left mouse button is double clicking with a single click. The unsymmetrical right side provides good comfort to the hand and stops my little finger from dragging on the mousepad. The way that it is angled however, makes it a tad slippy to pick up when the palms get sweaty. Didn’t know about hand-size to mouse ratios before watching this channel. Mouse is too large for my hand for precise aiming. Very comfortable though.

Just had a Rival 300 that needed replacing. Ordered a DA Elite and sent it immediately back because of the fucking retarded grip rubber placement, and shape (used to love it though, used my DA1800 for 8 years). Then I got a Zowie EC1-B. While the mouse itself felt nice to hold, I hated the side buttons and scroll wheel, and the tiny, tiny feet had so little surface area that my otherwise super smooth mouse mat felt uneven, as if there were grains of sand underneath it. Sent it back. Then I ordered this one. Feels significantly smaller than the 300, but against my prediction, I love the size. Shape feels great. Buttons are great. Despite what you said, I love the scroll wheel. Super happy with it. Thanks for the review.

Just bought this mouse after reading some reviews, including yours, alongside steelseries RGB mousepad, just for the sake of being shinny. I went with another mouse months ago that is also in your list of good ones, the Corsair Glaive, but like so many people out there, the double click problem plagues a lot of units (if not all) after some time of use. This makes the mouse unusable, which is sad, since I just got a Corsair k95 platinum to pair them up this blackfriday. Hope the Rival 310 will be a good replacement for now. Thanks for all your videos btw, they are so handful.

Hey im not sure if you read this, but one thing i think is missing from your reviews is an issue im having with the logitech g9x: mouse buttons click when mouse is dropped back down from a lift. Quick actions = quick drop... and this mouse fires mouse1 and 2 too often. Looking at your reviews to find a mouse, but still dont know if any of these mice suffer from this flaw.

Just received my Rival 310 today and I do like it much! It's definitely better quality than the 300 but just a bit smaller. The weight is not as light as I thought it would be yet lighter than the 300. The paddle switches are definitely an upgrade and also the sensor is much more accurate. Glad they took off that rubber coating on the shell. The silicone gripping on the sides are much better and you really don't notice them. The cord is better yet I don't understand why they don't just put on a braided one? The scroll wheel is just ok but I wish it had side to side scrolling especially for a $60 mouse. No weight tuning option which would be welcome and again should be on a $60 mouse, are you listening Steel Series? Another improvement is that it seems that the lighting is brighter and deeper in coloring than the 300 as well. The feet glides are nice and it glides smoothly and quiet. Overall, a definite upgrade over the 300. Nice job Steel Series but it could be better. I feel this will give any of the top mice out there in this category some serious competition. 👍🏻
@Rosaslav7 жыл бұрын
Side to side scrolling would make wheel even less durable imo. Does your model differ in buttons feel/quality from the Zy's model? Also, Rival 300 always had 3 surface finish options. Only Black is with rubber coating, Grey is mate plastic and White is glossy plastic.
@MrPS11117 жыл бұрын
Rostislav Hašek - Honestly I feel that my model feels very good and has a much higher quality feel to it than the 300 overall. I had the 300 in black once, I returned it 2 days later because the left switch was warped and it felt cheap. Loved that shape though. I also have other mice that have side to side scrolling and both have held up well over the last year and 2 years. However I don't abuse them and take good care of them so that may be why. The 310 is a very good mouse and the more I've used it in these last two days, the more it's grown on me. I just wanted to report as to my first impressions of it the day I received it. It's a keeper for sure. Also there's no noise when I shake it which is rare now a days.

I got this mouse for Christmas of last year. It is a very good mouse, with excellent build quality but I have had one problem with it. The issue is that when holding down the left click, it will repeatedly click multiple times. It's hard to explain, but it will un-click for a split second and then click again. I've been noticing this when I'm bored and messing around with the drag and select (not sure what else to call it) feature on my home screen. This is the only issue I've had, and I think you can fix it but other than that it is a great mouse.

You're right to talk about the width of the mouse as an important and ignored factor but the height is too. I switched to the G303 and it was an immediate relief. 19cm hands by the way. TL;DR: The Rival is too high, it can slowly kill your right hand if it's under 20cm.

I recommend it if you're looking for a upgrade sensor wise from ec2-a. Though, try it before buying if it suits your grip.

So I bought it on sale and I am surprised how much slimer it is than the Rival 300. It does not provide that much support for right side of palm anymore, I guess its because the shape is supposed to be used with elbow down. Rival 300 feel taller than this because of that right side slope under palm. It has more pronounced ledges, so its much more easier to pickup with fingertips than 300. Forward side button is easier to reach for me than on 300.

How was it after a year?!? i am trying to choose a mouse and i think it'll be rival 310 :) recommend or not?
@Shane-zo4mg7 жыл бұрын
I went through about 10 mice to find the right one. This is the one I chose. It's the best shape and texture and that's what I ended up valuing the most because I was getting really bad hand cramps from the other mice. I think it had to do with claw gripping too much on smaller mice. I also have a back up ambidextrous mouse for when I want to get into my try hard fps mode, but 90% of the time I use this.

Hi Zy! I purchased this Steelseries Rival 310 mouse November of last year (2017) and it was all good and it performed splendidly. But just this May of this year (2018) the right mouse button started to feel spongy and fragile. It intermittently triggers double clicks when I, in fact, have consciously actuated a single click. And sometimes, it doesn't register my single clicks at all. Now I am hesitant to buy any mouse with these "50 Million-Click Lifespan Omron Switches." I am telling you this because I wanted to know if you have had any similar experience using this particular mouse so far. Thanks for your immediate response!
@RocketJumpNinja6 жыл бұрын
I haven't, no... but this is another reason why I ignore the click rating. The thing with mice is that you get good and bad copies with all of them... it's only when you get a high failure rate that it becomes a problem. The rest of the time it's just a matter of luck and they need to be returned on warranty. Thanks for the feedback! Hope you can figure out what's going on with yours or get a replacement.

Thanks for your response, I'll keep that in mind! Cheers!

Totally true. I use cheap office mice for 12 years for every day work and gaming and it is fine. Bought new GAMING mouse and got double click in first year. Marketing stuff.
@cloackzilla7 жыл бұрын
That losen left click seems to be a common issue on all Steelserie's mice, I hope I won't get it on my copy (had it on all my rival 300 copies tho), that's pretty sad that it has to be like a lottery to get a mouse without default factory constructions issues.

Hey Zy, I have the same hand size as you and I was just wondering if you pinch your pinkie finger against the side when using this mouse? I'm trying to decide what mouse to get over the Rival 310 and the Deathadder Elite. Thanks for the review!

Seems like a very nice upgrade from my 300. But I can't justify throwing another 60$ when my old one works just fine and I'm not on that level of gaming for the improvements to make a difference.
@Rosaslav7 жыл бұрын
Exactly, I bought mine 300 for a 50$, 4 months ago and no issues so far. I will try to sell it, but if I won't, then I want to use it at least untill the warranty expires. 300 is a great mouse overall, but every aspect which could be a little better is improved on 310.

L4xeus there’s a deal rn on Steelseries if you’re looking for a new headset also, the Arctis 5 + this mouse for 115$, the headsets price is 100 so basically you’re getting the mouse for 15 dollars

I have roughly the same hand size as you do and i mainly use palm grip, what mouse would you recommend for me, or what mouse do you like using the most?(We have the same hand size so i think it should transfer) I use the rival 100, it is ok, but it feels a bit small for full palm grip, just for reference. You are the best mouse reviewer out there, keep up the good work!
@armondo44467 жыл бұрын
He uses FK2 with fingertip grip. For palm grip try Zowie EC2-A, Logitech G403, Rival 310, Roccat Kone Pure, DM1 pro s or Razer Deathadder Elite

Luka Vukasinovic avoid the deathadder, day by day I have to change my grip style cause the mouse has a shape I can't grip the same two days in a row. The shape of it is not as good as it is praised.

What about it's durability? I am reading a lot of negative comments (~5%) on popular online stores, that the wheel starts been stiff, cable is disconnecting, silicone wears off, etc, after a couple of months usage.

Thank you :-) It's been a few days now, and I'm sticking with it. Takes a little time to adjust to the lighter weight, and the different sensor. Probably both a change for the better - once you get used to it. My aim is coming back - all is good :-)

Koehnia True move 1 feel identical to 3. (In my case) and i kinda like more rival 110 than sensei 310. Sensei is too big for me (i have 19cm hands) and overall sensei is bad for me. I dont like it. Rival 110 is more my thing.

Hey Zy, with the addition of these 2 mice coming out, do you see yourself using either of these two over something like a G403 or a G-Pro for FPS Gaming?
@SLiX-thatguy11m-7 жыл бұрын
G403 is still No.1 in his list with the Rival 310 at No.4. Sensei is No.7 and GPro is No.8 respectively but I'd prefer the G-Pro cause of weight advantage. The only thing I was truly disappointed by with the Sensei was how it has increased its weight from the RAW version.
@jad88257 жыл бұрын
SLiX so what ur saying is that if i enjoy the shape of the G Pro, then it basically surpasses these 2 new mice?
@nsaneaf49827 жыл бұрын
If you are a fingertip/claw user the g pro is perfect, you can also buy a g102 on ebay, this is the same shape of the g pro but with rubber cable instead of braided and a inferior but very close sensor. I think I would prefer the g pro over the sensei.
@armondo44467 жыл бұрын
Sensei and Rival 310 are really big and would suit mostly for palm grippers or people with really big hands. I'm a fingertipper and use g102(budget g pro with same shape) and its good enough, but i dont like rounded sides. You should measure your hand and decide what grip style you are using, that way you can find best mouse for yourself.
@elliotquach52586 жыл бұрын
aRmOnDo Plays do you reckon the rival 310 is for me I tried it in store and i didn't feel uncomfortable at all and all parts of my hand fit on the mouse but my hands are really small because I'm a kid, and I am a palm gripper, what do you think?
@PanzerIV887 жыл бұрын
About time Steelseries refresh their "old" 3310 mouse with updated sensors. The new grip seems quite better but the buttons make the overall look kind of ugly and the loose buttons are almost a deal-breaker. Guess I'm gonna stick to my Logitech G403 Wireless.

One thing it lacks is good feet. I always thought Teflon feet/skates were good until I bought mouse that had Metal oxide feet. The metal feet are so much smoother, and have a lot less resistance. People/Reviewers often overlook the mouse feet/skates, but they are an important part!
