For those wondering... the clutch/sniper button is essentially silent, makes almost no sound, that's why I didn't put it in the click test, because you'd hear almost nothing. Probably should've mentioned that though.

Hey Zy just noticed you started playing cs about a year ago. Do you still play and if so you should upload more vids about it. Love seeing how a pro quake player adapts to a much slower game.

Just bought the basilisk and its a really solid mouse. Mine didn't have any wobble or dead zone with the scroll wheel no matter what the tension was set at. Unfortunately the mouse is too small for me and i dont like how the buttons go all the way to the edge and when pressed my ring finger rubs on the right click button causing resistance. The thumb buttons are a little to soft for my liking but still good. If you have medium size hands this mouse is the way to go. Great review youre the best zy.

the reviews doesn't mean alot. since the reviewers tells what they think mostly from first sights. if u take a look as fb groups as "Pc gaming and building group" you'll find people that purchase peripherals for fun to just test them and resells once they find out something they don't like.

Loving it too and don't see a reason to swap off of it for office use. I'm using an 83g Logitech G203 Prodigy for online FPS though so there's that. If they somehow brought down the weight of the G502 below 100g in a newer version I'd definitely get that as my only mouse.

I prefer it to my DeathAdder Elite. It have more comfortable shape, selectable tension of scroll wheel is kinda big deal for me, it is only a bit heavier and you can use Clutch as Hypershift button. Plus, build-in memory of you wanna use your profile on other computer. It is better productivity mouse than DeathAdder and pretty much as capable FPS mouse. I still want something like Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic but for gaming but Basilisk cames close enough.

Thx. Great and informative Review, as always. I bought it because of this review. Here are the points, why I bought this mouse. - It's ergonomic. I prefer ergonomic shapes on mouses. - decent build-quality - top sensor - really good mouse-wheel quality (and with the tensioncontrol you can adjust the resistance to your personal preference, its a nice add-on) - very low lift-of-distance - good software with a lot of options (you can configure x-/y-sensitivity separatly if you want, you can adjust lift-of-distance in 10 steps, suface-calibration, 5-dpi-settings-slots and each button can be configured with a customized function if needed, macros) - you can store all settings within 4 available profile-slots and don't need a driver to run the device The mouse feels comfortable in the my hand. I was a litte bit sceptic because of the thump-rest, but i got used to it very quickly. After one day of adaption i'm already recogizing improvements in my aiming. I don't know why, and first i thought, it's a placebo-effect. But my aiming is more precise than before. I have better control in general.

I just wanted to say thanks for a great review. I've just spent my first 24 hours with my new Logitech G502 and it will sadly have to go back. I had a G7 for 6 years, then had my G500 for 7 years up until the G502 and just assumed that I would be able to move to the current model. While the G502 is a great fit and really smooth, that damn sniper button is enough of an annoyance to send it back. In contrast, the Basilisk looks to do the job and has a switchable sniper button, what a smart way of doing it.

I've been using this mouse for a couple months now. I love using this mouse for all Quake 3 Quake live and champions. the 1 fault that's most noticeable to me with this mouse from the deathadder (what I was using before) is the left and right buttons have a little bit of play in them. but I don't even notice it with my grip and play style. and it's a negligible trade off for the comfort and performance.

Better than the G502? This is very interesting. I wanted to pick up the Deathadder to test and mess around with. Might put this on the top to test first then. Considering I'm using the g502, G703 and the M65.

Dejan Antic I backed away from trying it when I got my first mouse because of people saying how faulty they are. Just felt that when it came to their products, I hear more commonly razer having more faulty products but on the flip side people who have them and last long tend to last for years on end. I'm gonna take a chance on it. I love the G703/403 and the Razer Deathadder just looks a but bigger in comparison. When I can I'm gonna go for it.

So far i have bought 3 mice, first one was before i saw this channel, the other two after i subscribed to Zy. I bought my g403 because of this channel and now im picking up this mouse after watching this video a couple times. I think Zy has the most informative videos on youtube by far, i would have never pulled out a tape measure just to check my hand size vs mouse size and judge whats best for my grip style. And on top of his great information he is a quake player. I think that quake has the most discipline when it comes to skill. So with that in mind you are getting the best content out there. Great content as always Zy. Also, would you test out Tek Syndicate's mouse? Ive been interested into seeing your input on their mouse.

I was waiting for your review of this mouse. I saw your video talking about Deathadder Elite and I decided to buy one, less than a month ago. Is a very good mouse, but for me it has 2 flaws, the first one is that the upper plastic of the mouse when I exert some pressure with my hand tends to creak especially next to the buttons that regulate the DPI (it is already the second Deathadder Elite that I have and has the same defect as the first one, the store where I bought it accepted to make the exchange by another equal), and the second flaw, for me, is that the bottom part of the DAE is too wide. My hand is identical to yours in measurements, so if for you The Basilisk it is more comfortable than the Deathadder Elite I should have no problem with Basilisk.

Purchased this about 3 months ago, I wanted to try something new from my G303(been using for last couple years) and was delighted by how comfortable the Basilisk is. Only gripe was the weight, however the tensioning system gave out so I decided to remove it along with some other things and go on a weight shaving spree. I also replaced the m1/2 switches with my old g203 switches purely for feel. I managed to get it down to 73grams with very little external swiss cheesing. If one is willing to open it up and do away with some features, like the wheel led, tension system and unnecessary screws, this is can easily be made to weigh in at around 85g. I think I may have my end game.

I've had this about 7 months. Still working like day one. New PC player and I use it for fps games. I got plenty of kills right away and I knew it was bcuz of this mouse. I'm not that good. I never use the sniper button though, not sure if you will. The cable never snags on anything. If I had smaller hands and intended on using the sniper trigger, it would be harder to use.

Great video Zy. Question for you... What's your recommendations for a small, light mouse for FPS with light switches? I find the g203 still quite hard for tension and the clicks are loud. I'm interested in maybe the Zowies but are they all heavy clicks? Thanks!

To be honest I find the clicks on my 6 year old DeathAdder Re-Spawn 3500 DPI a lot lighter than the g203, and barely audible. It's of course the wrong shape, wrong size, wrong weight, but hey, nice clicks!

Yeah srsly? Well maybe its because for fps games and when u want to get headshots u have to move mostly to the left and right when u are fixed your cursor in head-line of the enemy. So probably the acceleration of vertical line is on to make it more easy to get the straight horizontal line for headshots and stuff. Well my taipan is glitching and doing vice versa its very sensitive on vertical but horizontal is slow and its hard to play fps with it

As a long term Deathadder user I decided to try one of these. It's very comfortable which is impressive after only a few minutes usage. Only thing that lets it down is the mouse wheel which has three small issues 1) It's big and sticks up too much 2) Scroll clicks don't all feel uniform 3) Scroll up has slightly more resistance than scroll down. It's possible the last two will get better after a few hours "wear in". I'll update this comment in a few days. UPDATE July 2018 :The mouse wheel is fine, you get used to it very soon. The buttons are really good esp for one taps and bursts. Sadly I couldn't get used to the thumb rest as I prefer to have my thumb in contact with the pad. I'm currently using the Zowie EC2-B which is like a smaller Deathadder with worse buttons and not so good cable but a great size

Can I request Razer Atheris? I know odd one.. Btw. is there anything that matches responsiveness of Death Adder? I really liked that mouse but it caused my hand hurt due its odd shape.

Swapped my DA Chroma for this - much better! The Deathadder was too tall, even for someone with big, large hands. It kinda forced me to fingertip as I couldn't palm it. The Basilisk on the other hand was very, very confortable and as soon as I tried it, I bought it. I can now palm with ease.

I'm really happy for Razer, finally having synapse 3, with the cloud system AND onboard memory, and they also came out with a pretty comfortable mouse as well :D

I love G502 - the buttons are the best I've ever clicked. But exactly as said in this video for competitive CS GO the Basilisk feels much better to me.

I think this is my new favorite mouse and actually the first razer mouse I really like! Everything feels great and those new features are for once not just useless gimmicks, they finally get rid of 2 of the biggest problems I've had with many modern gaming mice. Honestly, this is the first useful implementation of a "sniper button" i've seen so far. I only had to "break in" the scroll wheel a few days on mine, but now it spins smoothly even on high tension, which is my favorite setting. The mouse is a bit heavy for my taste, but much more manageable than the G502 and still light enough for FPS. The only real downside is the Razer software. Apart from the bad reputation it already has for requiring an account and being a keylogger in disguise, the current Synapse 3 beta has some bugs with the lightings and profiles where key functions get lost or the lights start flickering / go off entirely. But you have to run the software at least once if you want 1000hz polling rate, cause factory default is 500hz. So I decided to save my settings to the mouse and uninstall the software, works great but now I only have default lighting on all profiles and I think surface calibration isn't active either, but that's fine for me. I just wish there was a way to turn off the lights completely without running the software in the background... still, great mouse overall!

Very much would like to see a basilisk essential review, as it’s lighter. Or maybe a comment on the difference.

About 1 week into ownership I realized that the center of gravity changes depending on resistance wheel setting. I don't believe this to be intentional. I will say that vertical movements are much smoother when when resistance is set to the lowest possible but it doesn't necessarily provide the best overall weight distribution and I'm sure that grip-style plays a role here as well. Just wanted to mention this on the off-chance that you wish to drop an annotation overlay at 05:21

just yesterday i blew the dust of my old g502 and started using it again, after my razer deathadder elite stopped changing dpi in synapse (software issue), and razer support tossed me around for a month and a half. So no matter how comfortable it is, I'm sticking to old faithful Logitech.

Bought the Basilisk today. Had the opportunity to hold it in store, and it fits my hand great. Side grips and shape aid in picking the mouse up, and the cable feels very flexible. Build quality feels great too. I think I'll be happy with it long-term, which is great because I'm very picky with my mice.

With the way that Zy measures his hand at 3:18 of this video, my measurements are 17.5cm x 9.5cm. I do want to share that I actually hold my mouse a little bit funny. I like my index finger on left button, then middle finger on the wheel, ring finger on right button. I grab the sides of the mouse with thumb and pinky. Just FYI! I am still using and really enjoying the Basilisk.

Hey thanks for the detailed reply. My hands are about 18cm x 8(.3?) cm, and I hold it in a 1-2-2 fashion most people do. I think the way you hold your mouse is called the 1-3-1 grip. What are your thoughts on the Razer Synapse software? I've heard many negative things about it and it's honestly one of the few things holding me back from getting this mouse, that and also the widespread fear of Razer customer support.
@gm2256

No problem. I haven't had any problems with Synapse, but I've only really used it to adjust the 4 DPI levels on the mouse, and the color schemes. For those tasks alone, it worked nicely. I don't have any experience with Razer customer support as this is my first Razer mouse, but It's been working fine since I bought it over a month ago. One really exceptional thing about this mouse that I love is its cable. VERY flexible. Much much better than some of the cheaper mice I bought and returned before I finally went with the Basilisk.

Personally I like having different companies put out similar models. Some people just strive to have a full "set" of matching equipment amd that's great for them. For the rest it's also good because if one promising mouse doesn't quite cut it for an individual player, a competing brand's model of the same style might just have the differences to suit their hands. Also helps keep prices down if costumers can always choose from a multitude of options.

I've had a G502 for years before switching to lighter mice. My biggest gripe with that mouse was the weight, its an elephant even without any weights. This seems to take over that spot, although Razer is several years late.

I have the Viper and the Basilisk but one thing i wish they would add is the ability to have 2 charging docks or give us the option at a cheaper price to buy the basilisk or viper without the dock. If you own both which ever mouse you put on the dock last will begin charging and the other will just set the RGB to what ever you have it at when gaming. Not a big problem but really wish they would add the option to use 2 docks
