Steelton, PA 2nd Alarm Fire Involving 4 Houses 11/4/23

At 1317 hours , Box 501 sent companies to the 100 block of S. 4th Street in the Borough of Steelton for a house fire. Jumpers and a visible column indicated a working fire. Chief 50 (Vance) requested the second alarm upon arrival and had severe exposure problems. Crews had fire in at least 3 dwellings and were heavily engaged until the fire was able to be darkened down.

Great coverage. My one and only complaint is that your video is far too short. This same fire was covered by one of your compatriots, and it showed the primary structure had collapsed. Keep up the great work and stay safe chasing these down!

In August 1999 I've visited the Steelton Fire Dept. with a group of german, french and italian firefighters and some of us, me included, have slept one or two nights in the fire station. We have had a good time. I hope no one was hurt in this fire. Greetings from Saarbruecken/Germany, Frank

Surprised that attic did not flashover sooner. The initial fire stream into the attic was not hitting the seat of the fire. Good stop prevented further damage.

They did waste an awful lot of water early and let the fire spread. That said these old wooden structures do take some stopping.

Thank God no one was hurt or God forbid worse. That's what is most important here. So sorry for their loss of belongings and their homes, but their lives were spared. Thank you to our first responders.🤗

@1:15: Should be required viewing for ALL firefighters and support personnel on the scene of a fire: NEVER stand close to a building where there is a fire or near to firefighting operations. That man in the orange shirt is very lucky not to have been injured. In fact, he should not have been that close helping without wearing proper protective gear.

The guys who didn’t protect the exposure? The red helmet was calling for water for how long? Welp now you have a well seated fire in the exposure. First priority for her then search and rescue are exposures. Control the exposures and put the fire in the unit of origin out. Or in this case don’t protect the exposures, tunnel vision on the Main unit and lose 1 1/2 structures.
