Thank you Roy! Black Cow, Deacon Blues and Peg, all from the Aja album and all great. There’s only seven songs on the album.

Great reaction! Yes, Haitian divorce is awesome too, but they (Steely Dan) have a fantastic catalog. Also Doctor Wu, King of the world, Deacon blues, Don't take me alive, could be worth or a reaction!

The best way to describe Aja is that it's a total Eargasm.

Deacon Blues is my favorite, and is the epitome of Steely Dan's style. It's all in that song, but this song is a close second, I would say. Bodhisattva is a faster-paced one they do. Green earrings, Haitian divorce, My old school, etc., they have so many great hits.

Hey J.Fro... first time seeing your channel. Let me tell you something: If this is your first time hearing Steely Dan, and you love this track that much, you are in for a crazy ride. Less than a year ago, I really dove in to their music -- I had heard their radio hits and enjoyed them for decades, but never listened to much of anything else by them. Fast-forward, and now Steely Dan is pretty much all I listen to. I am in my mid-50s, and to experience such a journey at this point in my life has been monumental. This "band" is like no other. Normally, most people would start suggesting songs for you. Nah... I suggest you start with the albums individually: The big three (in my opinion) are Aja, Gaucho and The Royal Scam. Once you hear them, there will be no going back. Enjoy!

Steely Dan is unique music. Groovy shit ... people would listen high. 70s. Older hippies I was a kid but all the cool young adults liked it

Great reaction. Really appreciate that you listened to the entire song without stoppage. Many reactors pause to comment, and it loses the flow of the song - especially a masterpiece like this. So glad that you appreciate music like this and welcome to the world of Steely Dan!
@J.Fro9010 ай бұрын
Ah thank you, I do pause sometimes but I'm a believer in don't stop to say/ask something unless it's valid & important for the moment (and you think you might forget it at the end)
@raycewilliams330010 ай бұрын
I have heard from other KZbinrs that said they HAD to pause due to copyright infringement reasons. I am not sure if that is true or not.
@J.Fro9010 ай бұрын
@raycewilliams3300 oh its true, for sure, I take chances by not doing it. How it works is when you dispute the copyright hit our videos get, if it gets analyzed, sometimes the powers handling the dispute will say the video is acceptable because the pauses disrupt it from being seen as "using the material to substitute from watching the original", which the companies allege in hitting copyright infringement. But I let the song/material do the deciding for me if it's worth the risk, but that's just me 😅
@breakingdad810 ай бұрын
Thank you for that info. While I don't totally understand it, I certainly appreciate the risk you're taking for the sake of your audience's enjoyment. Respect ✌️

Steely Dan is my desert island band hands down, no question. Just pick a song. The entire Aja album is outstanding if you want to continue your Steely Dan adventure with that era. Some of my favorites from this album are Deacon Blues (another excellent sax solo), Black Cow, and Josie. Others you may enjoy from their vast catalog: -Don't Take Me Alive (gotta hear the into guitar by Larry Carlton) -Rikki Don't Lose That Number (an earlier hit) - Do It Again - Babylon Sisters - Kid Charlemagne (another great guitar solo) - Bad Sneakers - Any Major Dude Donald Fagan and Walter Becker were the core of Steely Dan and collaborated with a huge range of exceptional musicians on each song. They just never disappoint.

Hey J.Fro90, I'm a new sub, and enjoying your channel. Steely Dan is unique. I think you'll enjoy searching them out. They're basically 2 guys {Donald Fagen keys/vocals and Walter Becker guitar/bass} both excellent musicians who left New York, moved to LA and hired different studio musicians to make records. Their radio play and record sales were so great they didn't even start touring for many years. All of their work is excellent and just gets better, so you could start listening to their first record forward and never tire of listening to them. Please check out "Josie" and "FM". Much love

Bro , love your fresh introduction into Steely Dan land . A few suggestions for you: as a "Starter Pack": 1. Your Gold Teeth Part 2 2. Your Gold Teeth . 3. Peg . 4. Home At Last . 5. Green Earings . Sooooooo many where that came from . Blessings to you and your dear ones in His doubtless Guarantee of Everlasting Life (John 3:16) !

This whole album is a masterpiece. SD (basically Donald Fagen and Walter Becker with an array of always the top studio musicians) were absolute perfectionists in the studio. Some of my favorite drums in any song by Mr. Steve Gadd. He just kills it!

Some Great Jazz Funk check out "FM" an amazing party vibe song, that about, having a party, and commemorating Frequency Modulation which has No Static At All, unlike AM. Enjoy Steely Dan has too many masterpieces to list them all, just pick one but FM is an all around great vibe, like "Rikki Don't Lost That Number", ok I'll stop there. Wait "Reelin In The Years"😁
