This is absolutely amazing! It doesn’t sound like a fan-made song. It sounds like a song that was produced, mixed, and arranged by Fagen & Becker at the height of their collaboration. The orchestration and musical fills, not to mention the straight up groove is just insane. I loved every measure, every beat! Just perfect! DF could and should release this masterpiece! Imagine being in a band where you discard this. It's ridiculous. Interestingly, this song is FAR closer to something from CBaT - Pretzel Logic, with a Bob Dylan style of songwriting that is a bit more sincere/heartfelt than most of their songs which are either aloof or sneering lyrically.
@JasonHawkins-o7cАй бұрын
If this was left off the album then it's for a reason. Donald Fagen must not have liked it enough to include it. This actually sounds like it would have fit in better on an earlier record like Katie Lied. In the vain of Bad Sneakers, Just would not have fit on Gaucho at all. Plus, compared to other SD stuff it's a little cliche and the keyboard solo section sounds like a million other smooth jazz records. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent tune but not up the standards of SD.
