Great video, my local store has Black Emperor Tetra (Nematobrycon palmeri var) on sale and had never seen them. This is a beautiful black tetra, making it hard not to run there and buy a bunch. They would make a nice contrast to various smaller tetras. Very striking fish, love seeing fish I've not seen before like a few mentioned in the video. Thanks for showing your picks on the option of fish out there we may not have seen.

We have the Black Emperor Tetras, very nice looking fish. We have spawned them a few times. They can be nippy in smaller groups.

Great list, I was actually looking for a tighter schooling, deep bodied tetra and I have never heard of Costae tetra! Perfect to pair with the smaller, laid back shoaling tetras!

Thanks for this! I recently acquired a group of what were advertised as wild-caught cyanotaenia blues. However, before I received them, the seller mentioned he was beginning to doubt that ID, sent me some pictures and asked if I still wanted to go ahead with the purchase. Turns out the are probably 'Imperial Lapis'. I have been having a hell of a time confirming an ID (I have been leaning towards ID'ing them as hyphessobrycon commoerdoro based on some footage from Oliver Lucanus) but they are colored up exactly at the ones you have here in the video. In general, there does seem to be a bit of confusion and variability with the naming and ID'ing of these 'new' tetras. Either way, they are stunning fish. I plan to start breeding them soon and with luck will have a large school for my display tank.

Thank you, Team Steenfott. Honestly, I'm glad you omitted Rummynose. They are often billed as an easy tetra to keep but for various reasons can be challenging, esp for the beginner. I would also submit that Ruby Tetras are small enough to keep 10-12 in 10 or15 gallon tanks, no problem.

That’s just a fake plant in a holding tank, but it’s supposed to be cabomba. It filled many of my old tanks, great background plant and some types will actually bloom.

Ruby tetra are probably my favorite tetra. Your video clip doesn't do them justice though (Not that I can do better). Mine are so much more red then they appear in that clip. I've had them for 5 years now and they are always a nice red color. I like them so much more than the ember tetra that seem to be so popular these days. I just don't care for the brownish orange of that fish when compared to the color of the ruby.

Hello @SteenfotyAquatics...you seem like a corydora fanatic lol...I've never owned a corydora in my life but i watch hundreds of videos on this species on KZbin...i noticed some corydoras are not so active they barely even move...could you pls suggest me some most active cory types..I'd look forward to buy them..

You asked this like months ago, but if you still need guidance. Get like a emerald or albino Cory. They are bold and active, but get at least 6 for good shoaling behavior.
