How do you control the direction of the front wheel?

hello, I'm using IR receiver - TSOP2238 and common IR pilot. When Arduino receives signal to turn the direction, then I'm changing the polarity of the front motors. To control motors I used Motor Shield: www.adafruit.com/products/81
