My fav video was "are you too old to start dancing?" It seems like mental/emotional hurdles (thinking you're too old, poor, fat, whatever it is) when it comes to learning dance aren't addressed much, even though those feelings are real and so common! That video encouraged me and now I'm dancing on Steezy almost every day lol. Much love 💕
@Nosnoug3 жыл бұрын
I looked up that one as well honestly. I'm mid 30's, and have always had a basic interest in dance. But since I've been doing Just Dance to help me lose weight, I've developed an interest in making my dancing look cleaner, which led to me wondering if I'd left it too late to take up dancing. Thankfully, much assurance has been found that, no, it's not too late at all. I have a little bit of belly I'm trying to shift as well, but I'm still hugely enjoying myself.

It doesn't help that most dance classes in dance studios are age related. Like beginner class: age 6-10, intermediate class: age 10-14 or something like that. I'm an absolute beginner but I don't want to dance with 6 year olds 😅 It can be very hard to find a dance studio that even offers beginner classes for teenager+ people.
@Ailyloves Жыл бұрын
even in things like building habits or finishing work as soon as possible, we often talk about the practical steps to get there. we talk less about the mental/emotional part, which is an issue because our mindset & emotional attitude has a big impact on our performance overall

listing the timestamps ⏱️ for the table of contents mentioned in the video only 1:10 table of contents for questions/topics > 1:14 - what are the basics & foundations of dancw > 3:31 - freestyle vs choreography > 4:23 - how do I create/add my own style? > 5:00 - what clothes/shows do I wear for dance? > 5:47 - how much/often should I dance? > 6:39 - basic in-person dance class etiquette > 7:41 - helpful dance vocabulary > 8:33 - what’s the best, easiest way to get started with dance? please like if you find this helpful so that it can be reached to others more 🫶🏻 thank you❗️ I want to comment on the fourth topic: what clothes/shows do I wear for dance? clothes are important to me because they affect how I feel inwardly & outwardly so if I dance in worn-out, dirty, unattractive clothes.. I don’t do my best work. my performanfe ends up not being good because I feel rather awful. so investing in dance clothes, or athleisure wear (which is more of my preferred choice of clothing), definitely helps with my confidence. it also helps to remind me of the person I want to be, which is someone who dances consistently ☺️ saying ‘dance clothes’ is a bit inaccurate so let me rephrase it to dedicate a set of clothing for dance only. the same way we treat some of our clothes like, we only wear this collar shirt when we go to our office work or for formal events etc

I'm 38. Quite athletic (gym, tennis, cardio) and I've always enjoyed dance videos and the clumsy non-descript "dance" (😂) I've done to music. I'm also a musician with a sense for rhythm but I feel I need to practice to get that feel to dance moves. Suddenly it hit me that I could really get into it. Nothing serious, not clubbing or aiming to be a pro but just to enjoy this form of musical movement. Here I'm starting my journey. I encourage you to do so as well if you feel like it. Let's do this!
