Stefan Dietz takes us for a ride in the fire engine, October 8, 2022

Stefan Dietz has been a volunteer firefighter for just under 30 years. He was a volunteer firefighter in Germany until 2009, when we moved to the USA, and he became a firefighter here in Oregon. He is now a volunteer firefighter with Forest Grove, Oregon / Western Washington County. One of his favorite things to do: drive the truck. And I finally got to ride with him!
Every year, except for a few years off because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Forest Grove Public Safety Open House is held at the Forest Grove Fire & Rescue. It's an opportunity for residents to meet firefighters, police officers, and staff from Forest Grove Light & Power, Parks & Recreation, Water Treatment and other government offices. The emphasis is on safety and on helping kids see these folks as people they can approach. They have firetruck rides, and I took my neighbors, refugees from Sudan, with me for this ride. So much fun!
