Great, I finally got the notion of buying a d bit grinder out of my head . Now you have me thinking about it again 😢
@gbestwick2 ай бұрын
I strongly recommend (if you have a lathe) to get the lathe attachment. It holds things in a way that you can use to make jigs to hold other things like chisels.
@windrk_6754Ай бұрын
Or, maybe could just get a workhead for one (I have seen some import ones, for a plus, find one for 5C collets??), & adapt to a base that can go on the surface grinder... I now mostly use the workhead for my Scripta, which has a great set of collets, on my restored KO Lee B600 - far easier to set up end mills etc. I end up using the the Scripta, which has a 3 phase motor & VFD, for freehand touching up carbide tooling. Great video!

Stefan lives in hub of high tech of Europe, south Germany. He makes Star Trek parts to universities and R&D of companies. Parts that CNC shops could make, with days of programming and right tooling. Companies that actually could compete with him are in dental and medical market, and they dont deviate from that path.

I thought I had missed something, I'll have to watch again as I can't remember what you did in part one or two? Don't remember watching Robin 's video either 😁 You could probably use some silicon spray on the X-rings, it won't attract dust and will be completely dry in a few hours.

That D-Bit grinder is one of the last original pieces of the "large gear" (with a motor) that's been with ur shop for as long as I know ur channel.. everything else is gone and replaced with bigger&better at this point, sometimes more than once. 😉

I love the @robrenz resonance! That oops (x2) with the sleeve helps keep my moral up. It's great to see someone with your hours on the job still having to pick themselves up after a slip up. I ran into a D-Bit grinder here in Canada that surprised me. It didn't have a tapered spindle instead had a fixed arbor machined on the end of the shaft. Apparently these machines are not all created equal! That might be an interesting topic about these import machines and where to find the better quality ones. It seems to me that these grinders would be much less useful without the grinding wheel adapters that would run true during a wheel change.

Thank You for the update! Watched all Robins and Your videos about this. I have exactly the same one and use it all the time. It has done the job fairly well just out of the box, turned 10 extra wheel holders for it. Was not able to find them online and made some special ones for cutting discs as well. Bought nuts from Aliexpress with lock screws so they can turn both ways since I plan to replace the motor. Reverse would be useful for carbide. Planning to pimp mine as well, but having it out of commission does not seem viable presently. Perhaps buying a second one and fix it and later sell the other one would be an option. I got the C5 since I have a lot of C5 stuff such as square collets etc, but agree on it being a bit clumsy compared to the original Deckel (which I unfortunately not have anymore). The head is in a way nicer with the ball bearings though.
