It's nice to hear you saying how you're glad that the animals use the elements of the pond rather than complaining that you haven't had as many sightings as you wished, or that the moss is torn. As you said, you've made it for the animals and they use it. And sure they are grateful to have it!

One thing I’ve noticed while being a regular to your channel is how optimistic and positive you are. You don’t let things that didn’t go exactly as planned get you down. You remain optimistic and are aware of and use the ups and downs to fuel your future decisions. Not only does that help the channel have an upbeat happy feel to it, it also shows a mature raw side to the work you do. Not everything always goes according to plan, but you always stick to it and provide amazing work. Thank you Stefano, I will continue to say it every video, but you absolutely make my day when you give us an update! Hope all is well and I know we all look forward to the next update!

I love putting little ponds into the landscape for the wildlife .. so much of our ecosystem maintenance is done with the aid of the critters, and they need that water! Thought for automated systems: Put a float switch in the top pond to close when the water drops, and another at the bottom, to close when it rises. When the circuit closes, the pump can come on, and cycle the water, without draining the lower pond during a drought. I love that you caught the finches nesting .. they only stop by here for a quick meal before moving on.

Why can I just give one Thumbs up??? I will definitely build such a pond on the outskirts of our farm this year!!! It would be great if every garden, golf course a d schoolyard hat least a little corner with a quiet stone pile, a water area or at least some wildflowers.

I love these documentary style videos so much! I have a smaller man-made water source for birds and wildlife on my property, but for many years, I've had the ongoing problem of foxes urinating and pooping directly into the water and fouling it for other animals as it's quite pungent. I am constantly cleaning and refreshing it, especially from Feb-November when they're most active. It's always been strange to me that they mark territory by deliberately fouling a water source that they use as well. Glad to see they're just fertilizing the moss on the sides of your ponds at your place. lol

Haha, yeah I haven't seen any videos of them deliberately doing it in the water, but I'll keep my eyes peeled for that now lol.

@@StefanoIaniro I'm in a residential area in Ontario, so the ones here might be classified as 'urban foxes' as they den in people's yards and under porches and everyone in the immediate neighbourhood sees them and the kits daily during spring/summer. It's a bit of a gong show as the vixen screams at dogs going on their daily leashed walks and they 'mark territory' on everything from outdoor furniture to backyard BBQ tops. Maybe the more wild ones in your area stay more 'refined' and polite. lol

You could put an outdoor timer to turn off the water, just make the bottom pool bigger (wider possibly) or deeper, (just make climb out areas of rocks shallow toward the edges in case anything falls out or log) to hold the water on power outages. You can leave your pump in the water, it’s better to leave it in water any ways. We use to leave ours off, now now we leave it on just move the discharge lower down to keep the falls from freezing otherwise it just depends on your freeze. If you make the lower pond deeper, so when you do it won’t completely freeze due to being below the freeze line. Can keep a heater that floats that keeps an open area for gas release.
