Dear sensei, karate point fighting kicks with retraction are useless and way unrealistic for today, where mma rules. Defenses against muay thai go through kicks including low kicks and bjj takedowns along with basic boxing combinations should be added to Aikido's curricula for 1st dan.
@StefanStenudd11 ай бұрын
@juanpabloreyvanegas5381, I agree that it is beneficial for aikido to study all martial arts -- old and new. Still, there is no point in aikido conforming to them. It has its own perspective, as does every other martial art.

@stuartpaul9211, you speak about your mate... Well, how about you? You're strangely persistent with your negative comments. Are you another one of those who love to hate? Maybe you should stick to singing covers. Or maybe not.

@@StefanStenudd I like to be practical in analising those who make claims about certain martial arts. Aikido is not a self defence system. its an exercise and spiritual development system. Someone high on coke in a pub will cave your head in trying to use aikido. Same as the majority of it is a waste of time in the ring. aikido doesn't even work on the judo matt or judoka dan grades would fall to the floor ever so easily. But, in reality, the other party is stopping you getting what you want, so when its not a drill there is now flow. As for me, yes my arms were covered in bruising from conditioning training blocking elbow and fist strikes. yes it was a partnered drill with control, but it still sodding hurt!

@@iancognito6920 Terry Ezra is a well-known name in aikido. Sadly, he passed away in December 2022, as you probably know. Karatedo is also a fine martial art, so I'm sure you found it as rewarding as I do aikido.
