Steg Linear and Quadratic attenuation basically controls how sharp your light is, why it increases intensity is because the change in brightness suddenly becomes steep. Why is there linear and quadratic? It's more for fine tuning how much the light drops after the increase in radius.

@joshenkstone6 жыл бұрын
Constant Attenuation can come in handy sometimes when trying to make a light that's supposed to be the sun in a really big scene since it doesn't have any falloff. You can also use it to create a giant fill light by simply locking it onto the camera. This will then basically allow you to adjust the color of all the shadows in your scene. I hope this somewhat made sense. :P

@steg your response to the Radius slider was "hmmm" which implies you don't know what it does. it actually does something very useful. the radius determines how smoothly shadows blend out into light. but, this change is only visible in the clip overlay, which makes a pre-render of the scene. press f2 to quickly go into the clip editor to see how the radius affects your pieces
@steg38235 жыл бұрын
I learned about it a day after I made this video lol
@TurnTwister6 жыл бұрын
The radius slider can be used to make the further shadows more blurred. You can see this irl by standing outside on a sunny day and looking at the difference between the shadows of your feet and lower legs and the shadow of your head. For the light radius to be seen in SFM, you need to have DoF samples turned on and to either render or prerender. :)

Constant Attenuation means the light never drops off no matter the range. Linear Attenuation means the light drops off at a linear rate, like a straight decline from 100 to 0. Quadratic means an exponential decay of intensity, basically the light will be strong and then drop off hard eventually.
