You CAN get posts. A guy called Bernd Meissner makes re-enforced posts as they have a tendency to collapse/bend fwd if people try excessive dives. Other route is to buy a cheap Overlord of Music copy bridge from eBay for about £27 and Rob the posts from that. Properly balanced these are perfectly good for gentle shimmers but not Floyd rose dive bomb machines.

@@TestarossaRocks I have Bernd's stainless steel posts installed on a Epi Firebird with the KB Bridge. It's actually a very cool bridge once you replace the awful pot metal posts. On of the coolest things about it is I have the tension adjusted so when unlocked it's tuned a half step down! Kind of a "poor man's" transtrem!

Wow.. I remember these when they were new - well - sort of - they weren't very popular even then. Haven't seen or thought about it in years until I spotted one on Reverb and started Googling to refresh my memory. Much like factory installed Kahlers, Bigsby's before that or even Floyd fitted versions today, a trem on a Les Paul has never been very popular. My own main Les Paul is an '84 Studio with a factory Kahler - mainly because I was a huge Def Leppard/Steve Clark fan back in the 80's. Then I spent much of the 90's trying different things to get the Kahler to stay in tune better, eventually settling on locking tuners in lieu of a string lock.

Ian Furqueron personally I dig a Floyd on a Les Paul. I wish Gib$on would do an affordable Les Paul standard with a Floyd.
@ianfurqueron58504 жыл бұрын
There was an Epiphone version of the Axcess called the Pro/FX but it wasn't popular either. Examples on reverb seem to have asking prices about what they were new.

Ian Furqueron there’s literally no reason Gibson can’t make one in the 1500-2000 dollar range other than people will pay 4000-6000 dollars for one. It’s absurd.

i brought home an 88 S-900 it belongs to my friend he owns Zimm's Guitars in mesa Az we were taliking about doing what your doing just hard tail it. but what i ended up doing is used floyd rose tremolo pivit insrerts and the bushings cut down a bit drill 2 holes in the body for the studs directly under the base p[-late wer the original posts were at i ground off the threaded lip that was bent to crap an drilled it out so i could screw the inserts in the bushing once they were in the body it all worked out and the trem arm just slips into the hole there is a set scew to tighten it up so any trem arm that is the same dia will work on that treolo

My lock switch that holds the bridge down keeps letting it pop up, am I missing something? Like, I lock it, but then boom, bridge pops up bc it slips off the lock.

Any thoughts on how to keep the lock from popping back when I bend strings or use the whammy bar? Don't know if it's defective or not adjusted correctly.

But I found a webpage with PDF's explaining the problems with the KB and where you can order improved parts that solve the problem. Very usefull. www.headless-europe.eu/Bernds_Guitar_Pages/The_Steinberger_KB_Trem.html
