I knew about their existence. By pure luck walked into a local antique gun shop and saw it there.
The most deluxe of the QUACKENBUSH 22 rimfire rifles.
How could I let it go??? Got it!!!
Wanted to share some info, briefly functioning and disassembly/ service of the unusual bridge block.
Again, I am a sucker for gun mechanisms especially in 22.
Enjoy.

Awesome video, surprisingly little resources on this little rifle. Just picked one up and realized from your disassembly that I’m missing the part you removed at 06:10. Could you fill me in on what exactly this part is and what function it serves?
@STEINBVG
@STEINBVG 8 ай бұрын
It,s the firing pin rebounder - as i understood from reading somewhere: with it,s weaker than the main spring , it prevents firing pin from protruding ( for closing the bridge safely) I found the answer on rimfirecentral.com: somebody was missing the flat spring and rebounder: ‘since it's missing you also are certainly missing the rebounder. The early guns did not have this so the firing pin did not get pushed back after firing. The flat plate was a spring the was strong enough to push the firing pin back into the bolt by means of the rebounder, which was under it, but not strong enough to stop it when released from full cock, kind of like a rebounding hammer. Without it the firing pin protrudes from the breech block and rubs as the action is opened or closed unless you cock it first - which is not safe... and it was called the "Safety Rifle".

@@STEINBVG awesome, thanks. I found a site that sells replacement parts online and ordered a rebounder (and grabbed a replacement firing pin just because) but now I guess I need to order the rebounder spring which makes sense now. But I do see on the rifle that there’s a grove to the right of the chamber that I’m fairly confident was from the factory, not a user modification or wear from opening and closing the breach with the firing pin protruding. So it sounds like the rifle should be safe to test fire with the right ammunition without the rebounder installed which is my main concern at the moment. So happy you have this video online, a great resource, thank you again.

Why they stop making cheap and simple guns like this :(?
@STEINBVG
@STEINBVG 10 ай бұрын
At the time it was made, perhaps. The modern technology now is cheaper to make a gun. This one was machined, perhaps hand fitted. It’s not cheap to make it this way any longer, when you have printing technologies, plastics, CNC etc. It is not financially feasible to do it. It,s a relic , like a Luger. Nobody in their right mind is mass producing those. Perhaps that,s why we love them even more?

@@STEINBVG well, i think there is a market for them still. I would buy one brand new with those technologies applied over an old concept like this!
