Steiner Dbal A3 Unboxing and Functions Test

After doing some research i found out what the dual pressure pad is for, its for use with a steiner flash light. I still think my idea is better.

If you read the book, the pressure pad with Y harness is to plug in your white light and the visible override laser port to activate the green laser and your white light with the one pressure pad. Something that is extremely useful......Being able to answer white light with white light and visible laser is important.

The purpose of the visible override and dual pressure pad is to hook it up to a white light and run a light and laser at the same time. The terrible part is that the lights that accept the “insight plug” are extremely limited.

as far as i know, the only switch that will allow this functionality with actual lights is the Unity TAPS SYNC

I highly recommend getting a Unity Taps sync for anyone running a white light with their A3. Also recommend upgrading the A3 mount to a ADM or LaRue.

The safety screw isn't pointless, the purpose the safety screw is to prevent people from using the high power modes of the lasers during training to prevent injury. On high power mode, exposure to the visible laser to ones eyes for more than .25 seconds or the IR Laser for more than 100 seconds can cause injury.

he's said "it's useless for the civilian model" because it is. civilian models can't go into high powered mode therefore the screw doesn't have a use in the model he was talking about

I assume it's just personal preference but I would like to know too. I would also like to know if he is still happy with his choice, if he thinks the extra $300-$500 was worth it, and if he still has it on his rifle. From my understanding the only difference between the two is that the A3 should handle water better. I'm no expert though.

The D2 has an adjustable IR flood, and the i2 does not allow for you to focus down the IR flood...leaving the flood on the i2 a wider less intense flood...and the flood on either when not focused looks like a petrie dish (with spots all thru the flood...but that is on either the i2 or D2 when left on wide IR flood).

The difference between the I2 and A3 is the I2 only has two modes of operation (typically IR laser and IR illuminator, but sometimes it's visible laser and IR laser), the A3 has all three modes, visible laser, IR laser, and IR illuminator.

The D2 is similar to the A3 in that it has all 3 modes of operation, the difference is, the D2 utilizes IR LEDs in place of a wide band IR laser for the IR illuminator which allows it to legally be much brighter as far as IR illumination. So the pro is you get a much brighter IR illuminator with the D2 over the A3, the drawback is the D2 is HUGE (nicknamed Big Chungus by some), whereas the A3 maintains a slim/low profile.

That epoxy is a deal breaker for me. Looks like so one messed up in engineering and they had to dab on that at every screw location. Other than that i like though

@The Right Side Of History I understand that. It is a mess up from an engineering standpoint. An afterthought to a fix that was not caught until it was produced. It is a flaw no matter what. You don’t see that on anything else that needs to withstand weather. Watches, scopes etc

NO a laser will not just "go into full power mode" because you removed a screw. full powered lasers will only be able to reach higher milliwatt range because it's a full powered unit, not a civilian unit. civilians CANNOT buy full powered laser from the legal market, no way to get around that.

Too boxy for me! I like the peq 15 a lot more. I spent 45$ with a flashlight for mine and if I knew where I was going to mount it I probably would have gotten a lancer tactical laser box. Cool video if I change my mind I’ll look for a d bal a3. You did a good job of making me like this.
