That different aroma would come if you had bottled the beer into green casks and let it in contact with light for 1 week at least... I did it myself and its amazing how It works well

Greetings from Blighty Martin (are you homesick?). So it's a SMASH beer then (Single Malt And Single Hop) Spoke too soon, you said it at the end! Brewed a few of those, mainly pale ales. I've never had an issue with using an Erlenmeyer flask straight from hob to icy water but I do funnel the DME into the water when cold before heating! Excellent channel which I watch regularly and eagerly await updates. Great work sir!

Thanks for the kind words. These days I go with canned wort because I’m lazy and scared of exploding flasks :-)

Hey, I brewed a beer with pacific jade, which made my wort super acidic. So I adjusted with bicarbonate of sodium, but I exagerated, now it taste of sodium. What can I do to save that 5 gallons of beer? I need the suggestion of an expert. Please

Is the distinct aroma you’re getting from actual Stella coming from light-strike? I find it can come off skunky
@TheHomebrewChallenge6 жыл бұрын
That’s a good point - maybe I should just leave my beer out in the sun for a while to match the Stella aroma :-)

I'm pretty sure you have hit the nail on the head here. I spoke to a commercial brewer who told me bottled stella smells like it does from light strike (a bit like cannabis). The cans don't have that aroma when I've had them.

Martin, what was the alpha acid on the saaz when you brewed this beer? Also I'm to understand that The malt is Belgian Pilsner ... from a friend who works at Budweiser. But I know Budweiser has also added other things to the beer now like corn and rice

reduce oxygen and filter it, then it might become more like the real thing. my brew itch is itching again, but then I think about all the work to reduce oxygen and how messy and work filtering is and I just buy a store lager.
@TheHomebrewChallenge6 жыл бұрын
I fined with gelatin instead of filtering. That did a nice job of getting the beer super clear. Next improvement is, as you say, reduce cold side oxygen exposure. Would like to start doing closed transfers of beer from fermenter to keg.

Nah, the nose he's missing is most likely the skunky smell most beers packaged in green bottles get. Hard to find a Heineken, Stella or Becks around here that isn't skunky (unless it's in a can.)

It differs. Here in Hungary it does, it tastes disgusting. In the UK I had a bottle, which didn't and that was surprisingly ok
@michaelgardner47023 жыл бұрын
This recipe is dear wrong. Stella, along with many European beers outside the Reinheitsgebot area has a fair amount of maize in it as an adjunct. Stella Artois is advertised as containing "only 4 ingredients: hops, malted barley, maize and water". That's why it probably smelled wrong, too much base malt. Go about 15% maize, should get you there. And with the Saaz, use T45 hop pellets, not T90.
