This game is one of the greatest examples of what the saturn was capable of in the right hands and if anyone still hasn't played it yet a fan localization was released which gives the game full english voice acting!

The sega saturn had so much unexplored potential. Seeing games like this and Virtua Fighter 2 shows that the Sega Saturn's hardware was powerful but complicated. Thanks for the upload!

Lol no. Saturn is the most developed-for Sega console. Over 1,200 titles. It’s potential was enormously explored
@opaljk48356 ай бұрын
@@marcbasil I don’t think so. If it had a few more years on the market with releases in similar numbers to 96-97 we would’ve seen some incredible advancements, especially given how Shenmu was coming along and how cool the 1998 small but fierce line up was. I don’t think we saw it’s full potential realizes.

This game sums up the saturn vs 32x debate(if there ever was one)what if the sarurn had at launch the 4 good games on 32 x(knuckle,star wars,tempo,and kolibri).they should have just never release the 32x and rework some of the games for saturn.i would have loved to play knuckle chaotix on my saturn.
@SaturnMemories9 жыл бұрын
Ciprian Mogosanu I really like the first game too, but as far as graphics and framerate go, the sequel here blows the 32X game out of the water.

Has that same space opera feel as Colony Wars for PS1. However there's a little bit too much cutscene.

One of those few fully polygonal Saturn Titles, where the visuals aged pretty well imo. Maybe because they went for a very clean look instead of trying too much (while ruining the framerate in the Process as with Burning Rangers for example). Too bad, that they didn't release it in the West. Probably thought it wouldn't be able to compete with Colony Wars, or it being too costly to localize all the voice work. Anyway, looks like a lot of fun. A shame though, that prices for this have skyrocketed as well already.

It improves on the original in nearly every way. Would definitely recommend getting it before it turns into a $200 game.

I can't even afford it as is. Too many responsibilities right now. Though it will be mine someday. Oh yes, it will be mine.

Master-Cast TV I know how that feels. Money has been super tight for a while. I haven't been able to buy anything for my collection in nearly a year, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Master-Cast TV I'll be alright. I'm just not making the money I used to make, and collecting keeps getting more and more expensive. Paying bills and buying necessities is more important, heh.

Someone should really remake this game ... updated graphics, and most importantly ... SUBTITLES !!!

VL VIDEOS A group of fans attempted to create a hybrid of the 32X and Saturn versions using the FreeSpace 2 engine a couple years ago, but the project has since stalled. Google "Stellar Assault FSO" for their website. They also have a few videos on KZbin.

Yes, SIMS made both games. Some of the earlier missions even mirror ones from the 32X game.

This game has ACTUAL TRANSPARENCY!? How'd they pull that off? Does anyone know?
@SaturnMemories8 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of Saturn games with transparencies. This one isn't unique, lol.
@Carsonj138 жыл бұрын
Saturn Memories I know but most of those use the VDP2 for things like water and clouds and color averaging which mad transparent objects look solid depending on what they overlapped. This game's explosions and jet-fuel effects overlap other objects as WELL as the backgrounds!
This game is more drama and a lot of Blah Blah Blah instead of gameplay. The 32x version still better. However this Saturn version it's not that bad at how i say. It seems fun and maybe changeling.

there was a homebrew some time back. the 32x was more than capable of a direct clone port of this version. no one really knew just how capable each of these systems was. so sad.. the version on the 32x was needlessly primitive, it could do exactly what you see here.

No, the 32x had about half the processing muscle and nowhere close to the rendering capabilities of the Saturn, yes, it used the same model SH2 CPU's but clocked at 16 mhz compared to 28 mhz on the saturn, but it lacked the dedicated vdp's. This level of detail was not possible on the 32x.
@Dmar-ih7kr10 ай бұрын
You might be on to something because I just saw the tomb Raider demo on the 32X that the guy behind openlara is creating and it’s running at 15-20fps on just ONE SH-2 chip thus far. He said that his goal is to release the game finished by the end of 2025. Overall, sega should have at ported as many of their arcade games as possible on the 32X instead of shooting themselves in the foot over business differences between SOA and SOJ.
