But tbf, graphics wasn't really NieR Automata's strength, it was the story and its impact, that's what made it one of my fave games ever.

I said Nier automata had at least a decent budget, it certainly wasn’t low budget. Platinum games doesn’t accept low budget projects and the project was funded by SE which is one of the industry’s big players.

One of the things I like about stellar blades combat is it really feels like Eve is growing, at the start of the game Eve is panicking during the drop when she is seeing the casualties of the 7th airborne, she gets stuck in the pod and needs Tachy to save her, she gets wounded and Tachy has to sacrifice herself to save eve and Adam spirits her away from the combat, her fighting is very slow and methodical making the game initially feel almost like a souls like game, however as the game progresses eve gets stronger and stronger gaining more abilities and mobility her hits are stronger, she starts getting special attacks and the game starts shifting from a souls like to almost a DMC game up to and including her getting what amounts to a devil trigger and she basically becomes a whirlwind of death and destruction

my heart is on NieR: Automata because its just its own different game. you see all the artistic direction starting from character design/fashion, color pallete and color grading, UI, music, world's ambient etc its all directed perfectly. Smaller budget basically, so Nier devs focused on what's important first, since they already know the game's true weakness from the first Nier game is the gameplay. Yoko already got the music and concept down. Graphics is secondary because Square Enix splurges on FF titles, not a sequel title for a cult classic.

I fckn love Nier: Automata, the music is one of the best i have ever listened to, how 2B animations are so fluidly, each animation has a beginning and an end and each one of them has different transitions to return to the idle position, if u continue or not the next animation, the lore of the aliens, the fuckin humans crap corporation, completing all the endings was so amazing discovering more about the world and the robots, A2 and 9S gameplay and background...bro i cant explain, its just amazing.... I love Both Games, i stayed for Nier Replicant and Automata cause of its story and Characters , and stayed for Stellar Blade for its addictive Combat, gameplay loop and bosses, while the story isn't bad and is engaging enough, it just doesn't come close to niers storytelling, but both games are amazing on their own way, i can't wait for Stellar Blade 2

Don't know why this whole comparison went into a few people trying to compel others why one is better than the other. Nier automata came out years back and has clearly influenced stellar blade's creation massively. Of course it shares the good features we all love and miss from automata, of course we'll think of nier when we play. Its natural. From someone who hasn't even had the chance to play stellar blade, i envy yall. As a nier and drakengard fan for life, something this heavily influenced yet freshly unique is something I'd die to play. And damn I'm getting reminded of how well platinum games handled combat in automata despite a terribly low budget.

Nier Automata does better considering the technical limitations of the release platform. uses the environment in a complex way and is more inventive. You believe in this world, because the functionality of invented things is visible not only in battles. Stellar blade has a place to be, but it is rather contemplative and no more. it is better not to think about the meaning of what is happening. Content for the sake of content. В Stellar Blade же только унылая суходрочка мобов с посредственной боевкой и с отвратительными анимациями. Соглашусь только с графикой, Stellar Blade в этом плане превосходит оба Nier'а.

Eh. Honestly think good graphics can hurt tone and mood of the whole game. It has a fantastic artstyle that makes it timeless. Artstyle usually overcomes graphics in game quality. Fun fact is that the soulsborne games including er, have below average graphics. Yet it all looks so good and well put together because of its fantastic art direction. Nier, in a similar case, has fantastic art direction that just suits the game and narrative perfectly. Wouldn't want more or less imo.

Then again, if you want the full picture about the game’s world and lore, you’d also need to play the Drakengard games. I didn’t play those other games before though and I’m pretty sure a lot of other people that loved Automata didn’t either

Nier automata is slightly better overall, storylinewise and also Nier has easier fishing gameplay, Stellar blade just has better physics, water exploration and graphics, but think if Nier was made these days like a brand new updated game it would still be king. Stellar blade took inspiration from Nier so it's not entirely unique or original but it is a great game that's almost as good as Nier automata as a whole.

For me personally I think the game is an 8 but i can understand some 7s. Only thing holding it back was unfortunately the story and overall writing, which imo is the most important part of a STORY driven game. Having good gameplay without an equally good story is like having a good side dish with a 1 dollar walmart steak. The steak isnt terrible, its just there.

@deadpool3302 "The game has 27 endings" 22 of them are joke endings that you get for eating a fish, killing pascal early, or going the wrong directions in certain places, uninstalling your OS etc. These can all be achieved in a singular playthrough. Calling route A and B endings is like calling the end of the chapter for a story the end of the game, route A and B are better described as chapters from different character perspectives, while route C covers the final half of the story and is completely different. After getting ending C you can just use chapter select to go back to the final boss fight and then get ending D and E. And before you argue "Well the credits roll at the end of each ending" You can do all of this without ever starting a new game as you just hit continue. So it all occurs on the same file, therefore it isn't starting a new playthrough. Stellar Blade has more enjoyable combat, which inherently contributes to replay value as well as a ng+ mode that unlocks a new difficulty as well as 30 additional costumes, in addition to the 2 endings you didn't get from the first playthrough. So at minimum that's at least 3 playthroughs for all endings where as with Automata you only need 1 complete playthrough and chapter select to 100% the game.

​@@gibbygibbstein7858 you're rating replayability based on combat it seems. As someone who prefers story, characters and music, automata is more replayable for me. Stellar blades story and characters are it's worst part and having to go through that again and again when I'm just not invested enough is just kind of draining. Automata has such an excessively well written story, narrative, characters, etc that you can constantly and consistently find new appreciation and value in what it does and conveys in replays. Also consider this; automata was designed as a story to be replayed to get the full story. Have you considered how different replaying that completed story is? Have you considered the insane amount of side materials that are out there for automata that contain Canon lore with very important details on the characters and world? Playing Automata knowing all the details from the side materials actually elevates the emotional impact of the game to insane heights even beyond the crazy amount of depressing, sadness filled suffering the games story is as a first time experience. I would go as far as saying that automata can genuinely be played for the 1st time twice. It's really a whole different experience replaying it with a whole and complete understanding. Especially if you have a complete or at least robust understanding of the entirety of the DrakenNieR verse/series. The quality of writing is absurd in Automata.

@trevorveillette8415 I get that not everyone values story and gameplay the same, but where NieR excels in story Stellar blade excels in combat. You can't really play through Automata multiple times for all the endings, since you have to complete all 4 main routes on the same file to complete the story anyways, if you dont have A, B, C, D, and E then you haven't actually completed the story, you've completed a chapter of the game. Now, if you're going for 100% completion and platinum Personally I don't consider endings A, C, D, and E to be different playthroughs because they all occur on the same file and tell different halves of the overall story and are needed to get the game's ending, the "playthroughs" are better described as completing chapters and not the game. If someone only did route A, you would tell them they didn't actually beat the game. So it can't be considered a full playthrough, because it isn't. I only consider B to be a playthrough because it's just route A from 9's perspective. With Stellar blade, you're looking at one playthrough of being close to 100% and 2 additional playthroughs. The game also added ng+, which added to the game, and they're also adding boss rush. This and the game being more enjoyable combat wise gives it more overall replay value to me than NieR did even if NieR has a better story. When it comes to single-player games, I generally value story over gameplay, but once I've experienced a story, I've experienced it. I have no reason to play a game again solely for the story, which is when the gameplay actually starts to matter more to me, because if I revisit a game I usually do it for the gameplay. I think completionists and gameplay freaks get more value out of SB than NieR because SB seems to incentivize you to actually play multiple new playthroughs for things like the platinum trophy, new costumes, and new skills.

Honestly, games got so similar in their realism attempts at one point i stopped really noticing anymore. Plus, it seems rather pointless to compare the physics between two games, both of which use wholly unrealistic physics to begin with to portray super human characters XD

Nier was pretty bland graphically for a PS4 game because it was chaseing 60fps which was less achievable on PS4. It felt less smooth than 30fps games to me though, so they sacrificed graphics for nowt. I never went back to it and tried it on PS5 though, maybe it's smoother on PS5.

They didn't sacrifice graphics, they chose art direction over graphics as they had a shit budget. And it still looks fantastic as art direction does not age. This is true for all the soulsborne games like ds3 and bloodborne which have shitty graphics you can't really see due to how good the art directon is. Graphic andy s need to chill.
