Maybe a special variant of this event chain could be an endgame crisis, where the dimensional horror comes back, but this time, it's the whole thing, it gradually climbs out of the hole, and starts to wreak havoc upon everything?

pretty late to the topic but, this could be a great add-on to the mirror dimension event where instead of the other side getting attacked warp beasts, you're the one getting attacked instead and could get economic help by the mirror faction

I mean, there is a chain where you can feed pops to one for research as a deal, and if you piss it off it insta tombworlds one of your colonies. So yes, if it fully crawled into the galaxy it would consume it in mere hours.

That thing looks like it's the size of a sun. Can we imagine, in-universe for a second, what that would be like seeing something like that? Imagine taking a telescope and being the first person to see it, or being a crewman on one of these ships and being able to see this giant monster from a whole star system away-- and knowing it can see you back. Or worse if you're flying up close to it and basically just shooting paintballs at something bigger than the planet Earth. Whatever we pay Corvette and Strike craft crew, it ain't enough.

scale in this game really isn't accurate... look at the size of ships and space stations compared to planets and stars, even planets aren't to scale with their own stars.

The good part about it is not killing it, Idk why you decided to kill it, It changed my empire into Tomb world habitability (60% minimum habitability for all other world types) and then every barren planet in my system into a tomb world, One planet was size 27, 2 were 25 and 24, and 2 were 18 and 20, completely free of blockers. In addition to the free "intelligent" perk it gives you empire wide, you guys basically fucked all your choices it seems!

Riley, I went the same route and I coloniezed every moon and non-gas planet in the Sol system. Then I specialized them for cruiser and battleship production and I can product 14 ships simultaneously with just one system. Then add the other now colonizable planets and it's a massive power boots. It made my species "repugnant" but you can just edit that gene out later on.

It would cool to make unique titan banner - PHL Coat Decent damage resistance and (!) entrapment of anything in system. You just send one fleet with cruiser to, say, Unbidden's Rift system, and boom, crisis is frozen.

The Dimensional Horror I encountered in version 2.2 had something like 200k each of shield, armour and hull and it made my corvettes just melt, but the larger ships were more resilient. Two mid game fleets size 110 each were almost enough to kill it.

The dimensional horror actually popped up in my home world system as part of a event chain involving a wormhole during my mid game in which I ended up having to fight it but it only had 18.9k power at the time, is that a regular my occurring chain or one of the rarer ones?

ASpec it could be a rare one or it could've just happened because I used a ringworld start mod and my sun was in the ring itself and the 2 outcomes were interesting to say the least.

i ran into that situation through the horizon event chain. when u reach the point where u collapse your home star into a black hole, if u decide to say no then one spawns and destroys everything in your home system unless u stop it. the difference between the 2 is that the horizon version doesn't require 2-3 hundred k fleets, i beet mine using a 15k fleet

I think I figured out where this creature came from. There are very similar creatures in the background of a few pictures of Tyranids. So it might be a form of nid for the 40k dimension (thank the emperor this one got stuck and basically plugged the gap)

here is a basic tip, fallen empires deploy shit tons of fighters so make fighters and point defense systems your best friends. also have ships that can utilize long range attacks and close quarter fighting

3.0 onwards seems to spawn the early Unbidden frequently if jump drives are around (even low tech spiritualist factions can gain psi drives from the shroud). That starts rolling from the end game year not 50 years after, so occurs all too often in my play throughs. Took out the Horror with X slot battleships under a cautious range admiral, it took out a destroyer and several corvettes suggesting range limitations, but died very quickly so I think massed big artillery is totally viable.

i don't really like jump drive too much, when you jump into a system there is a cooldown. so uf you land on the enemy, you could loose a lot before even shooting

For those wondering, it looks like this spooky boi picked up some shields in the last 3 years. I went after him with a mass of corvette spam all armed with nothing but plasma cannons, thinking I'd rip through his armor and hull. Imagine my surprise when he has a big shield on top, rendering the plasma cannons almost completely useless. Good thing corvettes are evasive, I only lost about 8 ships out of 120.

I lucked out in that game. I destroyed all but one of their planets, and that last one had a colony in it, causing the AI to bug and send every new fleet to that planet. Gave me enough time to build up my forces, conquer the fallen empires, seize control of their territory, and build a much bigger fleet, all the while killing off any swarm fleet that got too close to my territory and regularly culling their numbers. Took me over 70 years to finally send the swarm back into the void. Meanwhile, my rival, The Clans, just continued to build up their forces so when I could finally focus on them, they had 100k more fleet power than me. Took me another 3 centuries to beat them :P

IThe dimensional horror is just wasted. 50% jump drive research for killing that? If anything it should be something like after you send a science ship your scientist do some shit and bring it back to be able to fight on your side albeit being not as strong. It's long range would certainly help.

It'd be pretty cool if there was an artillery type weapon or something really long ranged, that could effectively call the Horror's "tentacles" to attack enemy ships, ripping through time and space before ripping through the hulls of infidels. I think getting one to control would be going a bit far though, considering what it is.

@@archibaldbeansworth5th689 Patch 3.81 or higher you can be-friend it, making it neutral to your empire. Your Race must be Psionic before said event... You can then use him as a choke point, to defend a area on your empire map. Matter of Fact i haven't run into any Psionic horrors that destroy my empire. You can even place a fleet in his area and use him with your fleet to fight off massive fleets. Now what you will run into, is bad to nasty De-buffs from failing a Chance roll on the communion with your Psionic God. I recommend saving the game before talking to them. You can change the % chance of winning the reward this way. The only reward that is pre-determined is the Avatar gift. "it's either good or bad one lol" . I run no Mods, but i do have all the DLC's and kept my version at 3.81.
