I fully agree. All of the Stellenbosch afrikaner culture need to change to reflect South Africa today. I have studied there from 1994 - 1999 but there was a clear divide between white and students of colour. I felt like an intruder the whites mostly did not interact with us, they made up between 80 and 90% of the student population and the lecturers were 99% white. These need to change.

You can’t be frivolous like that about something as harmful as racism. Obviously, being on the other side, you wouldn’t know or you don’t care to know. If a Black person does this it is an offense to a fellow student (i.e. not racist) but when a White person does it all hell breaks loose. If Mr. Du Toit did this because the owner of the belongings was Black it is naturally shameful and racist. While we know is he urinated on the belongings of another student, we do not know - it is only alleged - he did it because the owner of the belongings was Black. There is a big difference. This issue is evolving into a bit like crime in this country: Many more Whites are murdered by Blacks but it is never positioned as 'racism' when Black transgress but when a White person murders a Black automatically the race card comes out. As for urinating, one would think urinating in public is a national past-time amongst the Black male population. They urinate anywhere and everywhere. and sometimes in full view of passing traffic as if it is some sort of entertainment. Maybe we can use this Stellenbosch issue to clamp down on this disgusting behaviour. Finally, the issue of institutionalized racism has been mentioned. Under the ANC government, the institutionalized racism that the National Party started has been perfected. You can hardly come across anything these days that has not been well and truly institutionalized for 'Blacks only' and other races are actively made to feel most unwelcome. The hypocrisy of South Africa is there for all to see.
