Well balanced and very musical sounds...impressive to do this at a show. What a great demo here of system synergy between amps, cables and speakers.

There're so very many absolutely wonderful sounding speakers out there now all over the place!!! There are so many options these days. Whenever I attend a show, there's not a single room that I enter that I don't enjoy in one way or another. From the least expensive, to the most expensive systems, they all sound just wonderful and most enjoyable to me.

Funny a lot of what KEF built in to their Reference 104/2s back in the day. Sealed chambers for d'Appolito array in a separate completely dead midrange unit. Separate bandpass bass chambers....Of course this is taken to a whole new level...but nonetheless remarkable what KEF achieved 30 years ago.

I heard the “Alumine three’ Stenheim speakers at the audio fest show in Montreal 3 weeks ago and I was extremely impressed. It was one of the best sounding room I’ve ever heard at the show. It was paired with a Dartzell integrated amp… it was foot tapping. One drawback though, i found the high’s were a bit harsh… could of been caused by the Dac ( Merging Technologies) or the Nordost speaker cables used in the system. I would be curious to know if you found the high’s to be a bit a bit edgee.

I own the stenheim alumine 3s and use a ch precision power amp and dCS dac . Previously I’ve had meridian and Nagra DACs into the same set up I don’t find the system to sound bright at all. The speakers are revealing and dynamic and not fatiguing .

@MichaelM-to4sg
@MichaelM-to4sg Жыл бұрын
@@jbsaudio Have you heard the Siegfried’s SxS w/MB450? If so, what were they driving? Not that the Siegfried are not brilliant but as are the MB’s. They are largely voiced identical and sound accordingly, at least when I’ve heard them w/VonSchweikert Ultra 9’s, Magico M6 and YG Sonja XV. All are reasonably efficient w/o any severe load issues. When I heard both driving the big Maggies, the dual panel per channel who’s model name I do not recall, the sound was quite discernible. The impact of bass hits such as a bow being pulled across bass violin string was more impactful and focused. In low-mid, the vibrato of male voice less muddied and flabbier w/MB. The rated power is very similar but the Siegfried ps section is quite larger resulting in better ability to deliver constant current at severe impedance loads. I’d still say the MB’s outperform nearly any amp in production save for a very high quality DHT SET. If you have speakers that need that level of current, the Siegfried is best choice. Easier driving loads, I’d save the cash to spend on music. I can buy a lot of direct from master tape r2r and vinyl for that cost difference.
@jbsaudio
@jbsaudio Жыл бұрын
@@MichaelM-to4sg I’ve heard all the VTL amps. If I ever went back to a tube power amp, the only amps I would select would be Siegfrieds. I prefer the sound of my Gryphon Mephisto power amp to any tube amp on the market. My front end is all tubes. ARC Ref6SE and ARC Ref Phono 3SE, which sound better to my ears than the comparable preamps made by VTL and VAC.

@MichaelM-to4sg
@MichaelM-to4sg Жыл бұрын
Those look like the MB450’s. They can run 450w/ch in tetrode or 225 in triode, likely these are running in the latter. They also offer variable feedback for more damping if speakers require it, such as these and Wilson’s. VTL is among the best amps in the world, alongside his stepmom’s Manley Labs.
