I realize that the fox's ears can go all over the place in real life, and I also know that you are a VERY experienced taxidermist, but why do many taxidermists have the ears sticking out to the side? To me it seems that a healthy,alert,dominant, fox, would have it's ears higher up . It would always be attached to the one place, but they tend to look more sloppy with the ears out. Maybe it is the heat down south that makes them look more" wilted".Also I know that mothers with cubs tend to have their ears down and out more. Our Canadian foxes often have more fur to cover things. I like the alert "up" look.

Everyone in the comments needs to chill out. The fox most likely died if natural causes or was killed because of overpopulation issues. Killing an animal because of overpopulation is not cruel, if we let overpopulation happen these animals would brutally starve to death. Instead we humanely kill them, and I will not sugarcoat the fact that gunshots are painful, but it is generally quick, unlike starving to death. Starving is slow, painful, and extremely cruel for an animal to go through, and a gunshot is much more humane in comparison. Most taxidermists don't kill the animals they work on, instead they get commissioned to work on hunters kill, or get naturally deceased animals. This man is not a bloodthirsty fox killer. Just praise the man for his amazing work or dislike and move on.

Brian, Thank You... Any direction for self-education on rug mounts, Coyote, Bobcat, Black Bear. DVD's etc, self-help instruction? Been getting my hides professionally Tanned, Moyle Mink, don't know how to re-hydrate them for molds. I can skin well for taxidermy. Getting a bit old these days, have a ton of professional skinned quality hides. Want to desperately learn rug mounts. New Subscriber...

Is the inside part of the ear real or artificial? As a trapper when we catch fox/coyote we remove the inside part of the ear entirely so it doesn’t rot and cause fur slippage

Brian I really love this video because I'm about to purchase a Fox pelt or two with the head mount for a Frontier Fur Hat and I would appreciate knowing exactly what kind of acetone you use and how to properly use it and where to get it. Is the Dap just stand caulking for use around windows etc.? Also, do you have any advise or video showing a snarling, aggresive looking Fox? I want people to see the Fox head means business. lol. Thanks so much for any and all things your doing and sharing it with us.

I have trophy head wall a lion 70's that need Small paint repairs on the contour of the eyes, nose and mouth (black color) Unfortunately, in my country. does not exist service taxidermy. My question ... What kind of paint do I use to paint the outline of the eyes, every nose and mouth of the lion? (Which does not damage skin)
@hunterurban54656 жыл бұрын
what country are you in ? and i wouldn't reccomend painting the eyes yourself because you need to know how to blend the black with the natural fur color so it doesn't look stiff . if you must do it yourself i would research online painting techniques because you must blend the fur too

They kill foxes so there isn't an overpopulation. If the fox is overpopulated there wouldn't be enough food to feed them all. And they would all starve to death, It's like putting a dog down when it is really old. It could live a bit more but it would be painful for it to So you put it down peacefully

@maryfrederickson94005 жыл бұрын
lps simba You are lucky to know what a real fox looks like. Millions of people never get to see an animal up close. An animal like this in a museum allows people to view animals up close and study them in a way that they can't do on television or even in a zoo (because they are moving or hiding).

@@hixd6706 you have to understand. This fox was already dead he didn't kill the fox and then proceed to stuff it that's the main thing about taxidermy that EVERYONE seems to get wrong. They do NOT stuff the animal it is litterally the pelt and a form which they put the pelt over. It's not taking a dead animal and stuffing its insides. And animals are killed it's just a fact, its just how things are.

Why is he so wrong to do this? You have no idea how this fox died. Yes, poaching and pelt farms are disgusting in my opinion, but hunting, killing because of overpopulation, and natural deaths are probably the most likely ways this fox died.
@DaddyBlueJay32074 жыл бұрын
Taxidermy is a skill and an art, there is nothing ‘sick’ about it. Try watching videos without taxidermy if it’s so ‘sick’
