Super. Steady and clear instructions, it is a pleasure to watch your detailed video vs those shaky and poorly lighted ones.....

If you have a press, it helps tremendously. I do these engines much more easily and quickly with a press.

How difficult is it to get the collars out during tear down?
@omarsalinas56296 жыл бұрын
I finally got my jug back from the machine shop and started rebuilding motor. Are both collars the same? On the meg side the collar I used went in kind smooth all the way in. Didn't have to tap it much.

I have an incredibly loud whining noise when running now that I rebuilt it. It also is hard to turn over by hand with the spark plug out. Maybe over-torqued my slotted nut?

Love the videos. Hope you can help me. I pulled the gear off my 1993 350l 2x4 water pump. And didn't mark location of punch. Now have no idea were it goes. Engine completely apart and am trying to figure out the position of crank rotation compared to water pump. Any help would be greatly appreciated

There are timing marks on the gears.
@kimandmatt99003 жыл бұрын
Yes my problem is I removed the gear to work on the shaft and did not mark the location of punch mark of gear to shaft. Now have no idea were to press gear back on to have counterbalance in proper location.

The counterbalance and mating gear have timing marks as well.

How do you prevent bending the water pump shaft? I keep hearing they're very easy to bend
@BrapStuff6 жыл бұрын
See my other video. Pull the shaft out by pulling on the gear....you don't need to touch the shaft at all.

Do you use any gasket maker on the big gasket? Like how you did on the water pump gasket? I am still waiting on machine shop for crankshaft and my jug. I went with a 84.5mm wiseco piston. Hopefully I'll get it back this week.
@BrapStuff6 жыл бұрын
That one is not so critical, but you can put a little on both sides if you want! Let me know how it goes!!
@omarsalinas56296 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'll let you know. I am gonna call the machine shop tomorrow and check on the progress. Maybe they will push it out by the end of this week! Thanks again!

The tool for the slotted nut? If so, you can buy one, make one, or use a hammer and a pipe. Remember it's reverse thread.

@@BrapStuff ll make one quickly using grinder, to achieve the correct torques. There is no direct visual access to crank drain nut, l ll make a hole on frame plate for sockets access.

Do I need the counter balance shaft if I'm not using the water pump?
@BrapStuff6 жыл бұрын
The splines on the counterbalance shaft also run the oil pump. Fixing it back to OEM specs is always the way to go.
