Only issue I EVER had with this show was they never gave it a proper series finale. I guess everyone thought they were going to get one more season but CBS pulled the plug and Disney didn't want it back on ABC!

That is possible even though cbs’ answer to tgif didn’t make it and it go through a few lineups before cbs admitted defeat and gave it up and by the time cbs got the show along with family matters abc had transitioned tgif away from the family sitcoms into show amid at a preteen and teenage audience and step by step wouldn’t have fit with the lineup

Disney bought out ABC in the summer of 97, and Step By Step, along with Family Matters, was moved to CBS Friday night Block lineup. It was supposed to be another season of both shows, but after a year of their moves, CBS canceled both shows.

I just hate that both sitcoms did have a final send off to end the show. No definite finale, one thing to end but come on could have gave a definite finale both shows were near 10 years long.
