Are you new to wet felting and would like to learn a simple way of making spikes for your stem (but may be used to embellish anything) and organic looking colourful flowers? This step by step video isn’t sped up in any way, the demonstration is done in real time so you will be able to follow along with me if you so wish. Please feel free to ask me a question by leaving a comment if you need any clarification. Have fun!
During my demonstration flower with stem I used wool batts but you can use roving or tops instead, whatever small amounts of wool you have to hand will be perfect. Here’s a link to a short video where I explain the difference about working with batts versus roving if you are unsure what I am talking about. • Wool roving V wool bat... For some added shine and surface detail I embellished my flower with silky looking bamboo fibre but again, use whatever you have to hand or indeed omit the embellishing fibres altogether.
PS If you would like to create felt to eco print rather than use coloured wool and embellishing fibres I recommend natural un-dyed merino and cellulose embellishments (not silk).
My aim is to cultivate a sustainable, nature focused practice helping creatives and slow living enthusiasts feel connected, understood and supported. Since 2029 I've had multiple wet felting and eco printing workshop success stories in Ireland, North America, Australia and mainland Europe.

Love your flower video and all the others too! Very enriching. My first flower was not good (to my standards: I used too much wool, it was too thick) second one was great. I also had found out that dry rubbing wool between palms (or a sushi mat) for spikes was beneficial, but after rubbing I immediately added soap. You got me converted to wait a step further before adding soap. Thank you Nicola! More flower felting fun today for me!

Hi Sabine, thanks for your lovely comment and feedback. I was so excited when I learned that tip about adding the soap slightly later than usual, I think it's great! Have fun felting your flowers.

thank you Nicola. is it possible to wetfelt flax as embelishmentfiber?

Absolutely Vonnes, flax works beautifully as am=n embellishment although it doesn’t shine like silk, bamboo or tencel does.

Thankyou so much Nicola. At what stage would I apply a leaf to the stem?
@clasheen
@clasheen 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t add leaves to the stem myself but if you wanted to do that it would depend where you wanted to position your leaf. I’d suggest making the leaf first with a dry end then adding that dry end into the stem at the very beginning of felting it before you start the flower. If you wanted to add it high up at the back of the flower and top of the stem I’d add it in at the same time as the stem.
