Yes Paul, it's the inconvenience, nevermind the expense followed by a bit of anger and 'self blame' thrown in there for good measure. As we said before, almost exact same happened to us but with more docs taken from both Italy and Spain. ONLY thing remaining was for us to get over it! What an absolute nightmare, its always my worst fear when travelling. I travel a lot around Asia and for backup i photostat all my documents passport, insurance etc then e mail them to myself and also store them on a memory stick just in case the worst should happen, and not forgetting making a note of important contact numbers should the phone be robbed or lost. Thanks for the heads up, Paul. I didn’t realise this was an area that thieves target. I know the area around the yellow brick road is supposed to be bad as it’s quite dark, and not many people walk down here. I’m glad you got everything sorted out with your passport in the end. I totally agree with you regarding having to travel all the way to Alicante, as it’s not as if it’s just up the road from Benidorm.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm aware of those steps, we have been dropped off there by our coach transfer and had to walk into the old town to our hotel in the past. We had an Apple phone stolen the same way a couple of years ago. Walking along the seafront at the Levante - phone was in a backpack which was on my back. Lesson learned. We remotely wiped the phone, informed Vodafone, and reported it to the police in Benidorm, but we'll never see it again.

Oh what a horrible experience Paul I'm just glad it's over now and you're ok. All that hassle, time and money wasted. I never take my passport out on holiday, it gets locked up in my suitcase in my apartment, I'd probably have a break down if I were to lose it or get it stolen. Hope people see this as its a good reminder to be extra careful.

I feel for you Paul.This happend to my partner last year. We were at the Airport and got to the desk to come home and his passport was missing. He was 80 two days later and was having a big party. The jet 2 rep was amazing ,she found us accommodation in Alicante not far from the Consolates office and and he got the emergency passport and we got a flight to fly back home. And enjoyed the party the next day. But what a worrying time.Hope you got back safely.😊

For future reference.... Bus no 1 goes from rincon de loix (where you were ) direct along the ave mediterraneo to the tram station. cost 1e.80c glad all ended up ok for you though, we live and learn x

When you are walking on the street is best to carry a backpack that has a lock and keep your passport and wallet on your front pocket in your geans. If some stills your backpack you still have your passport and your credit cards. I always keep my passaport and money on my front pocket. That can happen any where you go in the world. That area in Benidorm is safe, you have to take precautions wherever you go.

Glad you got home safe👍 I always use clips for my backpack, clipping the zips closed with a clasp makes it less easy for pickpockets, Unfortunately, these thieves use passports not to travel, but as false identity to open bank accounts ect which is why I have only been given a 2 year passport after my passport one was stolen and one was lost. Anyway great advice for people unfortunate enough to be in this situation.

Hi Paul, glad you have managed to get back on track, although with considerable expense. I think I commented on your last video dealing with this episode, but the quickest way from Benidorm to Alicante is by Express bus (often coming from Valencia to Algeciras). Don’t know why the Jet2 Rep did not suggest this. The Tram goes from Denia to Alicante and for many of the stops the stations are up in the hills eg Calpe, Benidorm, and probably Javea although level at Altea. The bus station in Benidorm is not right in the middle but closer than the Tram station. The bus fare will be cheaper as well. Thanks for filming the update.

Happened to me in May. Got all my money taken from leaving mini bus to apartment gates. Less than 20 yards, on calle ibiza. Luckily my passports were not with the folder. Very upsetting having just arrived

Before the embassy move in Alicante it was closer to the station with a big crest and a Union Jack flag outside so it was easy to find now I don’t suppose they can show the flag under the new government

What a nightmare for you. I very nearly lost all my holiday money in Benidorm. My shoulder bag had slipped up my back whilst I was carrying a suitcase and coat in both hands. On entering a hotel an elderly couple were shouting a warning at me. I turned round to see a local woman with her hand in my bag. She scarpered. Close call.

someone tried to pick my pocket in beni a couple of years ago. i chased after him but stopped because if i caught him i probably would have got in trouble. i agree that there should be a british consulate in benidorm, after all it is one of the most popular destinations for brits to travel to. i hope this experience hasn't put you off travelling to beni. your hotel reviews are invaluable. keep yer pecker up.
