Hanging pictures is ok, but if you are installing cabinets or a plasma TV screen in the kitchen you need to assemble it onto a stud. Adding outlets is ok, you just have to use lime based mortar with existing hemp hurds that you have taken out of the wall in order to patch the holes.

If you have a lot of spare time, or if you live in a country where labour is cheap, this process can work. But there's also the matter of building regulations, insurance etc. (edit: I initially described OSB as a toxic fire hazard, which it is, but OSB is used and re-used to shape the hempcrete, not as building material) If you can get pre-formed hempcrete blocks certified they would be an excellent building material for bungalows. Pre-formed, light weight hemp blocks (hemp, not hempcrete) are also very useful to insulate existing homes from the inside, when insulating from the outside is not an option (e.g. historic buildings).

One question I have, is the lime render...if you coate the building in lime, would the wood structure - studs and beams - not shrink and expand with the humidity, thus cracking the lime render on top of it? Thank you for this video. I have plans to build a few hempcrete cabins for rental income. Originally I had planned to use strawbale construction which I have used extensively for a few construction projects, and was very happy with the outcome. But hempcrete just seems like an easier method with the same outcome of being natural and of high insulation factor. I'll participate in a hempcrete workshop prior to construction but I was curious how you compact the very top layer of hempcrete of a framed wall where the roof rafters and sheathing would be in the way to allow for compaction. For example: At 12:14 in your video, how was the top layer compacted for the window framing with the bottom window timber not allowing you to compact the hempcrete from above?? Curious and stumped!!?? Thanks!

You said only suitable cover for hemp is clay, timber, lime, I'm planing to use Cork panels on the outside, as it's natural, waterproof, noise cancelling and breathing well. Have you got any experience with that combination, what do you think about using it. Thank You Forgot, I plan to use nails as cork attachment instead of the glue
