For all you "experts", yes he's using the wrong oil. But it's not 5w-20 he should be using. If you notice, he looks to have the track pack. If so, the recommendation for that (per the owners manual) is 5w-50. The Brembo brakes, wheels, exhaust and brace all scream track pack.

Hi Christoper. I don’t think he has the track pack. For these years the Mustangs had a brembo brake package option. My Mustang has the brembo’s and strut bar too, but I don’t have the track package so I use 5W-20.

There is nothing wrong with using 0w-20 in a car that specifies 5w-20, as long as it is a good quality oil. It won't harm anything, and if you live in a place that has winter, it is not a bad idea. It is thinner than 5w-20 when cold, when the oil is too thick anyway, and the same viscosity (thickness) when hot. If you want to use cheaper conventional oils, I would stick with 5w-20 and change it often.

I would not use 5w-20 in a Coyote 5.0 Mustang (any 5.0 GT from 2011 on) in a place that has a warm or hot summer unless the car was under warranty. The purpose of super thin oils like 5w-20 is to get a tiny gas mileage increase in the CAFE test that the US EPA requires of every model of car sold. The better the score, the more money the automaker saves. When you consider the number of cars sold, the money they can save by speccing super thin oil across the board is huge. Ford's goal was to figure out a way to get "acceptable" engine wear with 5w-20 while using it to get the best possible score on that MPG test. My goal is to get the least engine wear possible, period. Why would I use the oil that is meant to meet Ford's goals (to make money for Ford) rather than mine (to make my engine last as long as possible)? In Australia, where there is no CAFE law, the Mustangs that are specced for 5w-20 in the US are specced for 5w-30. Newer Mustangs with the Coyote 5.0 also spec 5w-30 in the US, even though it costs Ford money to not spec 5w-20. And those Track Pack GTs? Same engine as the ones that spec 5w-20.

Just a heads-up to all your all your viewers; be CAREFUL how much you torque down your oil pan bolt!! Your bolt is steel and more than likely your pan is aluminum!!

I’ve done it. Had to do it to change my 02 sensors. My car is low and didn’t have a low profile jack at the time.

Over torqued that drain plug dude. rule of thumb when it gets tight give a 1/4 turn and that's it.

Mustangs are such a piece of junk. I could put up with the engine tick, cheap plastic interior and glitchy electronics, but that crap Chinese manual 6 speed in the GT was the last straw for me! Sold the Mustang after 2 months! I bought a real car, with a quality transmission and couldn't be happier! No wonder Ford stopped making cars...I guess we should all be thankful for that! Best way to fix the tick is to sell the POS!

Or maybe if you knew how to fix the problems with the trans you’d be shifting completely fine lmao it’s literally just the clutch and trans fluid ford used OEM go with an aftermarket clutch and some bg synchro shift 2 and you’re all good, some may even go on and get a new short throw shifter and stainless steel clutch line upgrade from that cheap plastic one ford put in, oh and it’s also a Chinese trans not even American made
