Hi David, Great videos, really impressive tools. What’s the reason for offsetting the cartridges? And how do you know how much to offset them by? Cheers, Matthew

May i ask what are the insert geometry you using for the cartridges on these drills? Are they drill specific like spade bits?? i was thinking they are WNMG or CNMG inserts or similar more normal lathe bits with a custom holder...
@userwl28503 жыл бұрын
They are WCMX 06T308 INSERTS used on all Trepanning tòols regardless of diameter. 👍
@Moronicsmurf3 жыл бұрын
@@userwl2850 thank you very much for answer. :) So in essence its a drill specfic insert, i guess there is no real holder for them then that one can can go get and cut off one would need todo it like you do and mill out your own??
@userwl28503 жыл бұрын
@@Moronicsmurf they are also used in u drills. WNMG are usually used in turning tools. Much stronger with negative clearance but must be positive for drilling and Trepanning. Hope this helps.

@@userwl2850 it does for sure.. Been watching your videos, and also found that finnish guy using it in a CNC.. so got the idea i should be able to run one in my Okuma LB-15 for making spindle housings. :)

The video is entitled step by step guide to make a trepanning tool. SO when did that happen because I certainly never saw it. Change the title otherwise this is just so much clickbait.
@1dgrdgr Жыл бұрын
Now I can explain it but I can't understand it for you. Make a tube. Machine chip clearance on the sides. Machine pockets for trepanning cartridges. Mount it in your lathe and shove it in the end of your stock. Or maybe just watch the video again.
