Very nice, considering the cost of film your friend took a very brave face I would have cried like a baby I know... Because I did cry and said a few words when I exposed my film.

I'm sure he did when that happened haha! He definitely got over it now.

Exposed film sheet, the standard practice is the black-side of the dark slide out. Yet, it doesn't matter as long as it is a consistent approach that you know. In fact, I always thought the black side for unexposed and the white side for exposed. I never understood why the accepted practice is the opposite. Good video on a lengthy subject.

the reason is: traditionally Hasselblads, and other MF cameras, use a white dot to indicate a cocked shutter/advanced film, ie: a ready to shoot condition, this is why you copy this in LF, to save confusions ( as for MF film backs for these cameras, they are more likley to follow this accepted practice).

@@andyvan5692 Large format film around before Hasselblad. Heard the white side out is equal to a Virgin = Unexposed.

ONE step you missed, CLOSE the shutter, before the film goes in!!!- these Leaf shutter lenses have a "viewing" position for the shutter, aka open, then you must close this, cock the spring, set the apature/shutter, then shoot! - this can lead to one of the most embarasing of amateur mistakes, where, when the dark-slide goes up, the film is completely exposed :-(( as there is NO shutter to stop this!!! (as it was left in viewing mode). this is the Film equivalent of a digital photographer leaving the lens cap on, or photograping with NO memmory card!!

WARNING!!: step 8 is the other place for the most extremely embarasing of amateur mistakes in this format: aka you pull out the slide on YOUR side of the holder, NOT the one facing the camera!!!!
