this will sound soooo dumb, but i bought an old film cam from a bazaar with the knowledge of a noob smartphone photographer and i missed the fact that it was missing the shutter curtain until i loaded a film and was already halfway through it thanks to your video 😂 thank you for saving me the disappointment of looking at developed photos of nothingness 🙏

Re, self timer. Do you know anybody in the history of the World who has ever used a self-timer? No, me neither. It is not a function that needs to be checked.
@Project3635
@Project3635 Жыл бұрын
It’s still a part of the camera. You can choose not to check if you don’t care about it but it doesn’t mean that everyone thinks the same way. Likewise, can you show me evidence of no one ever using the self timer?

It doesnt. However, it onlyuses the battery when you push the shutter button or take a light metering.

Have you had an issue with advancing film on this camera? I recently got the same camera and sometimes it slips and doesn’t advance it properly.

As someone who shoots with a High-Matic 7 (only real difference is the lack of a hot shoe) I 100% agree that the camera is a great beginner camera!

rly helpful video! i recently had this sudden interest in film photography and decided to go ahead to purchase my 1st film camera. was thinking how should i even go about starting to test the camera to make sure it's in usable condition. it will break my heart if i ended up spending hundreds of dollars & a roll of film just to end up with an expensive paper weight hahah

This is a nice video to which my only comment would be that RPX 400 is normally a high contrast film and it would seem that your pics are overexposed a little. You may need some post processing to get the full depth of this film. Incidentally, I love this camera! Great stuff.

I have one of these sitting in my closet disassembled. I purchased it a few years ago and decided to do a CLA and found that one of the springs was bowed way out of shape (the film advance lever was spongy, this was the problem.) I’m waiting on a friend of mine to wrap me a new spring, I’m hoping to revive this camera rather than replace it. Thank goodness I have talented friends.

All good advice. Not too many people know what to look for when purchasing a vintage used camera. I've been lucky so far. Every one of my vintage cameras work as advertised with the exception of the light meters in a couple of them.

First time I shot with my 645 pro I had the M switch showing on my lens which made it almost impossible to find focus. So I worked that out ready for my second roll…. Then I just shot for an hour yesterday and realised that I had the multi switch turned on so the camera hadn’t been winding the film for the next photo (my version has the automatic winding grip) and it had just been taking multiple exposures. I’m finding the 80mm lens very limiting and with the lenses being manual focus it’s a real departure from what I’m used to. I’m very frustrated at the moment and I can’t say I was blown away from seeing my first roll developed. I will keep trucking on and see how I go after a month. I think I need to find a medium format camera with autofocus and a zoom lens 😁
