Awesome video!!!!!! Thanks!!!! Timed it…. Took me 42 minutes but…. Top hose clap wouldn’t open properly…. Then dropped extension between radiator and bumper!!!! PS, didn’t drain radiator… just lost maybe a quart when pulling off hoses! & the zip tie on the belt….. saves so much time!

One step not covered is to place a new gasket on the pump before installation. It was clearly installed in the video, just not mentioned. Most new pumps come with them anyways, so it should be fairly obvious. The rubber OEM style gaskets are generally a little better than the metal ones if you can find a pump with one included. I used to be a ford tech and did these all the time. Much easier than the insane internal timing chain driven ones on some newer vehicles. You can get away with only disconnecting the lower hose, but it's easier with both off for sure. Great video.

Thanks! Super easy!!! Did have to use 1/4” drive on that rear bottom bolt. Throttle linkage in the way! But the Ziptie on the belt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heck yes!!!! I’ve been turning wrenches for years (hobby only)!!!

Hi I just remove the water pump. My pump moves freely but it leaks enough to make a puddle and it overheat. You think it cause that or other hoses?

It’s hard to say. If you already removed the pump I would go ahead and replace it and check all the hoses while you’re at it.

What torque did you use on the pump bolts? Doing this since my pump failed and the book I have says 85 in-ibs. But since you didn't say in the video was just seeing if it matches. Thank you for your time.

Yea that’s what the book says. I put my a little tighter about 100 inch pounds.

How do you crank the engine without starting it? Mine is setup to where all you do is tap the key forwa and the starter will run until the engine starts

All you need to do is tap the key forward for a split second and then turn the key back to off position.

Correct there is no tensioner.

Dumb question but the air will make itself out of the lines with the coolant reservoir cap off ? Because in my older Ford I could use a funnel and get the air out that way until it came up to temp

Yes it should. I filled it up with coolant and drove it to get up to temp and parked it and let it cool down and topped it off. Didn’t have any problems

Thank you, I just wanted to make sure there wasn’t anything weird I had to be careful of when installing. I got an old 75 Mercury that is much more complicated and installing the water pump even slightly off could mess it up. This is much easier than expected, thank you again!

Just the gasket that comes with it is fine. I have to do this on my friend's car. How are you bleeding the cooling system of air tho??? There's no bleeder valve

@@ryanrobitaille5903 I just left it idling (sometimes revved to 1500-2000 rpm) with the radiator cap off. My escape was overheating before the water pump was going bad and took a while to get all the air out of the system

I just filled it up and took it for a drive to get to temp and parked it and let it cool down and topped it off. Worked perfect

Okay. Finally got to this. Followed your video instructions. I also changed the thermostat. All is working well. Strange thing, my heater works way better than it used to. I would get mildly warm air at best and now it is very warm air. Again, thank you!!

@@ausomecatman4636 No, see the diagram of the serpentine belts on the top of front bumper when you open the hood. I believe that 2.5L has water pump on the one serpentine belt area where on the passenger side.
