Excellent video, just the right amount of detail, watched it a lot trying to decide on the 509 for my JK, finally just installed one and the video helped tremendously, thank you! Definitely a big upgrade over the stock 430N in every way. Couple of minor differences in my install, mine has heated seats so there is a module attached to metal support bracket that has to be relocated and I used a Metra adapter to reuse the factory USB in the console that normally plugs into U-connect module which I removed completely, which is a little nicer than just routing to glove box. Also had to do a firmware update as it was out of date in the box, used the factory usb with flash drive no problem.

i really appreciate this video.i have watched so many that arent my situation.my 2013 sahara has the not very good sounding alpine system with sub.and i didnt want to change out the amp.so this shows me what i can end up with if i change the head unit.this is video i will use the day i swap mine out.

I'd pay two grand all day for this setup. Looks fabulous! Damn fine job with the install! I'm using the factory head unit but replaced everything else with Memphis Pro Audio. Sounds great but man this head unit would just set it all off! Definitely pondering it! I'm a music junkie.

I figured out a few things that might be of interest to folks. The crossovers come from the factory set to cut the bass from the main channels on the i509. You have to open those up or you won't get any bass at all from the factory speakers due to that whole "it feeds the whole system from the front channel only" thing that goes back to the phone audio missing issue. Just a heads-up with that.

Idatalink maestro mrr2 module has 3 low voltage triggers that can operate external relay banks, not sure if they can be configured for your needs, as far as gauge info it depends on the data stream of your Jeep, if the ecm has the input from sensors you can create that gauge for onscreen viewing

Not sure if you addressed it or not, but how do you retain the factory USB port in the center console storage compartment to at least function as a charging port, if not also to connect wired car play?

I know this is an old video, but question: if the head unit only provides output on either the front or rear outputs (the reason you have to switch those 2 connectors if you have factory amplified Alpine system), how does fade front to rear and timing for individual speakers work?

Hello, my understanding is that if the vehicle already has the Alpine amplified system that there was an extra module that needed to be purchased and plugged in with the install, the KCX - F200INT. It looks like this module plugs in where you switch those two wires around for the sound when a call comes in? Is the JK different than the JL for this

On the Jk there is no module needed, the alpine system sounds great connected straight to the radio, it’s absolutely amazing how good the stock alpine system sounds once you replace the radio, on the JL things are much different, the stock alpine system is lacking and distorted at high volumes, the kcx-f200int is for JL models only

@@volunteeraudio OK thank you for the information. I just got done installing the 509 on my jl and for some reason the maestro module and powered Alpine subwoofer in the back is not working. Are these two items related or not working? Any ideas and I’ve tried all the different radio settings for the sound and the subwoofer just doesn’t put anything out

It should trigger through the data connection at the obd2 port, if not you would need signal from the taillight

I installed this same setup along with the alpine speaker/amp/subwoofer setup and I’m getting a massive amount of static/squelching through the speakers. It’s constant regardless of the volume or media source. Any thoughts on where to start looking. All the connections and settings were exactly as per instructions. Almost sounds like ground noise, but I moved the ground and no change. Tried unplugging each speaker, no change.

@@volunteeraudio I purchased it from Crutchfield and did the install myself. I tried calling them and they suggested some amp settings that are different than what is suggested by Alpine. They are pushing a setting issue, but I’m thinking it’s either a component or wiring issue.

question the maestro should be able to use the uconnect and the jeep microphone and the jeep xm antenna i thought? why use the xm antenna shown in vid mounting that comes with the tuner? why use the alpine microphone? i am doing a very sim,ilar install but pieced together the kit (non wra ilx507, maestro rr2, sxv300 tuner, hrch1 mastro, alp1 maestro, and have adaptors for factory xm and fm antenna.

The factory microphone will have a latency issue that causes an echo, you can use the factory Sirius xm antenna with a sat1 adapter, we mounted the gps antenna for navigation overhead on the sound bar. Uconnect does not work as well as the internal Bluetooth in the alpine radio

Thank you for this video. I purchased this system to replace the previously installed system and running into a lot of issues with the speaker wiring. My question is it mentions in the directions about if you have a manual transmission you have to connect the white/gray reverse input wire to one on the pass side kick panel. I didn’t see you do that here. I didn’t do it with mine but the unit recognizes when I put it in reverse and activates the camera. What is the purpose of the wire? Again thanks for this video it helped with my initial install. Now to seek out the gremlins.

No need to run to reverse if you use the idata module to activate the camera

The surround doesn't bolt in at all?

I just had this unit installed in my JK but I’m having issues when making phone calls. The person I’m calling hears me but I’m unable to hear them. I’ve looked all over the settings but I’ve yet to find a solution to the problem. I can go to my voice messages & I can listen to them perfectly as they come through the speakers. My only issue is hearing the person I’m calling or when they call me? So strange… If you have any suggestions please let me know.

You have the factory amplified system, in the directions it shows to swap the front and rear speaker wiring , right now only your rear speakers are feeding the amp and you only hear Bluetooth calls through front speaker wiring

When the radio was developed for jl the front camera was not an option, also the factory mic has a latency issue that causes an echo, I’m sure they will eventually build an interface for front camera but these are digital hd cameras, not analog

Not to mention looking at the video again there is light coming from the passenger side of the radio behind the bezel. Just seems like that should not be like that. Especially for the price.
