Are you alls new 24’ Carbon fiber twist lock outriggers compatible with competitors bases if they are both 1.5” OD?

Hi CWill, thank you for your inquiry. These are only compatible with TACO Pro Series GS-500 Outrigger Mounts that accept Twist & Lock poles. However, we offer 24' CF poles with a pin-locking butt as well, and those would be compatible with any base that accepts 1-1/2" diameter poles. Thank you! ~ Dana K

I'm installing a single line outrigger do i need the snubber? if i use a snubber how do i stow the outrigger?

Thanks for your question. The “snubber” needs to be able to detach from the boat. It has a clip, which can be wrapped on itself or other form of attaching to the boat. Why are the rollers facing down towards the water when in the fishing position, the rollers aren’t doing anything but chaffing the line because they aren’t facing towards the trolling spread.

Thanks for your message. The swivel collars are designed to follow the angle of the lines once deployed. Therefore, the rollers will follow the direction of the line once the outriggers are set and baits sent back to their trolled positions. Regarding the rollers on the line caddies, these are manually adjustable and recommended to find the best stationary position when lines are deployed, and tightened into place for their permanent location. My uncle installed carbon fiber outriggers on his Robinson R44 helicopter. Three of us go up & troll large lakes & bays. It's also fun to just sit with your legs out & your feet on the skids holding a rod while he's flying at around 5-7 knts. Good times! Cheers!

Thanks for your question. What to do with the slack line is often a personal preference to the angler, but many use our Outrigger Line Caddies. The caddies enable the line to be securely wrapped while underway or for storage. We've really seen it all and it is entirely dependent on personal preference. Hi John. This is a great question for folks unfamiliar with or new to offshore sport fishing. Firstly, the mounts and poles featured in this video are the Pro Series GS-500 Outrigger Mounts with 20' Carbon Fiber Tele-Outriggers. For beginners to the sport, we'd recommend starting out with the Grand Slam 280 and 15' or 18' poles. This is a great introductory to intermediate system. However, your boat size could influence what system you'd want to use. Outriggers are used to add a fishing spread. Anglers rig one or more lines up to each rigger to place bait further out from the boat. When there's a bite, a release clip is engaged that releases the line so the angler can then start reeling and, hopefully, boat the fish. There's really a lot more to the sport and a host of techniques and tactics needed when using outrigger systems for the best possible experience when offshore sport fishing. I am curious if you can uses outriggers as if they where downriggers? Or are outriggers mostly for fishing line spacing and trolling top water. It be cool if you could uses your outriggers as well for downriggers or trolling deep. Still learning about outriggers and downriggers /setup / install/options/customization so these videos are really good. Nice explanation of how to rig multiple lines on a single outrigger.

Hi Nate. Thank you for your comment. Generally, outriggers are used to provide a wider trolling spread when offshore trolling for pelagic species, such as marlin, wahoo, dolphin and mackerel. They are also used to present teasers and dredges to represent schools of fish to attract targeted species to your spread in hopes to entice a strike. @@TACOMarine I realized the spacing reasons didnt realize about teasers /dredges cool. But can you actually put downrigger weights on outriggers and uses them like downriggers. Or is there away to convert outriggers to downriggers visa-versa or do you normally buy two different types of equipment outriggers and downriggers.

​@@natefidalgo7625 To use the outriggers as a way to spread downrigger offerings would require additional hardware and rigging system. A system that is operated by a downrigger or electric reel would need to be run through a separate pulley system attached to the outrigger pole, close to the end of the first pole section from the butt of the base. The downrigger line would run through the added pulley to allow the downrigger ball to be raised and lowered by the downrigger or reel.

Yes i get how it would work. What i was getting at is if you can buy outriggers and downriggers that have the equipment for doing both. Aka you can configure them to be outriggers , downriggers or outriggers that can be used as spaced out downriggers. Or if they usually need to be bought separately. It was a question of more if combo outrigger/downrigger equipment exist that can do both is available or if you always just buy them separately and install them.

You mentioned attaching the snubber to your t-top structure to keep it above the anglers and out of the way. But then, in the wide shot near the end, the cords are attached above the t-top. Is this a different position for when you are running and have the poles facing back? If so, you move the snubber from one spot to the other depending if you are in a fishing position or a running position?

HI Ed. Thank you for your question. Location/connection of the halyard lines when running depends a lot on the location of the snubber to your top. When the outrigger poles are turned to the aft facing position, there is a good chance the halyard pulley won’t be at the same distance as when the outriggers are turned out for fishing. You would need to mark a location on your top to secure the pulleys, and then secure them to the snubber that was set for fishing application. If you don’t mind the halyards being set to the gunnel, the Outrigger Line Tensioner, F16-0201-1, is a great way to adjust the tension in the fishing or running position, without having to choose a separate location for halyard pulley location.
