Hi Ryan. No question is a dumb question. The most efficient, least expensive way to store the halyard lines are to use the TACO Outrigger Line Caddy: o tacomarine.com/sport-fishing-outrigger-accessories-f40-0030bka-1 · These are very easy to install and readily available at many retail outlets, such as West Marine. They are adjustable to the length best for your length halyard lines and the numbers of times you would like to wrap them up the pole. It makes for a very easy and clean storage system for your outrigger poles.

when do you use mono and when do you use braid.

Hi Mark. Great question! This is a personal preference. There is no right or wrong. However, there are a couple of features to each you may want to consider: o Braid has very little memory and can be easily adjusted, untied and modified if necessary. However, it does have some inherent stretch that may cause you to make adjustments in tension. o Braid is a little easier to wrap and store with wrapping the halyard lines around the pole or using the Outrigger Line Caddy. o Mono has more memory, but has less stretch. It is a durable and classic material when rigging outriggers. It is a little more burdensome when wrapping and storing the poles. If you fish often and keep the outriggers extended for longer periods of time, it is a good material to use.
