Hi Ana. Great job w ur videos. I moved to the island from jersey and just visited Cesco in Carolina. They charged me $74 which includes the real id plus $25 for the doctor right there. And the lady also asked me to pay $40 cash for a grand total of $114 in Nov 2023. Also each sello in the receipt say the price but I was charged a few dollars more. Like the receipt said $10 sello or fee then right next to it I was charged $14. For the $5 sello was charged $8 and so on. She gave me 4 sellos. The other one was $1 but charged $2. Then was charged a 0842 trauma $4 whatever that means. The total was supposed to be $37 or so. Perhaps an additional $21 for the real id which my companion suggested I get but I never said to the attendant I wanted it. I thought the $40 cash was for the doctor but then saw I was already charged on the receipt. Of course no receipt for the cash. The lady was incredibly nice and friendly so I was trusting and not paying attention to the charges plus she was answering others questions as well. I’ve searched online about those charges and as usual ppl in PR don’t seem to write te reviews. Any suggestions? I feel uneasy about this and I don’t want to feel this way especially after everyone there being so nice.

@@AnaSantapauthank you. I’m going to have to make a video bc this is beyond ridiculous. Two trips to Cesco and I think I may have to do 2 or 3 more trips. They say I have a ticket From 2003 for carrying an expired license from 1988. I’ve lived outside of PR since 1986. I exchanged my license in the states so I never had a license from PR. Plus I was working In Manhattan at the time. The governor said tickets older than 3 years will be dismissed but attendant tells me they have to go through the archives to find the ticket from 20 years ago and the woman who does it is on vacation so it’s been almost a week already. All of this so I can exchange my license from the states to PR. Wtf? Puerto Rico me desencanta.

There are Cesco offices in the major towns, I think you would need to go to Aguadilla.

2:00 I was there 2 years ago renewing my DL. Funny Thing is, I gave them a Change of Address. Yet at the end of the day I still had my Old address. So Next time I am out there I will be changing it again lol

Do they only accept a passport as an ID for people not born in PR? I work for the federal government and was not born in PR but I used to have a learners permit years ago from Puerto Rico and I have an old tarjeta electoral. I also have my federal government DHS id.

They stop people but not a lot of presence but depends the town. You definitely need a license cause if you get into an accident you will be in trouble.

First, they want you to give it to them (it is illegal to have DLs from more than 1 State). second, if you do not have one you will have to pass written and driving exams.

Does my name on my social security card need to match my name on my birth certificate? Another question is why does a person who wasn't born in PR need a passport? What if the person doesn't even have a passport? Would the person be denied a driver's license just because he or she doesn't have a passport?

Its a US territory. Puerto Ricans are US citizens, Someone coming from the mainland USA doesn't have to have a passport (or a visa) to travel to and from the island as passports are for travel to foreign countries. Why would one need a passport to get a drivers licence? Your proof of citizenship (a current US drivers licence) should be all thats required. The PRrelocate website says a US birth certificate can be used in lieu of a passport.

That’s what it said when I was going thru the process. It stated for Birth certificate, if you were born outside of PR a passport was needed. So I took my passport. I can only go by what I saw at the time, they might have changed it by now.

....waaaaooooo...you had todo all that....when I came here in Puerto rico...all I did ...was just show up to the lic place....yes I did had to fill out the form...for the address change...but that was it....I gave my new Jersey lic...and about..10 minutes I got the...Puerto rico lic...I dint need anything els........ooohhh....yeah few days after that.. I did..when to jersey..and when to motor vehicles...and told them the I was in vacation in Puerto rico and I lost my lic...and...few minutes later they gave me the new Jersey lic....so I got both........new Jersey..and..Puerto rico..license...

After living in Florida for 15 years going back to Puerto Rico I found Cesco Dtop to be much better when I used to live there . I left the island in 2005 and yes when I got my license it turn to a renew and I had to pay a ticket from 2004 wow it was only 82.00 dollars and they gave me the same license number I had over 15 years ago . Is very important that you do bring your full driving record from all the time you lived in the states because I brought a record of my Florida license that only cover 10 years and they did not accepted so I had to come back after that it was simple and easy it took 30 minutes and I got my license
