I have an 87 softail with an EVO motor. I recently had the rotor and stator replaced when I had a new belt put on. The other day I was riding and it started choking out, backfiring, and the lights were flickering. I assumed it was carb issues so I took it apart and cleaned the hell out of it. Took it for another ride and the same issues, choking out, backfiring and flickering lights. Got back home and shut it off. Came back to it later and absolutely zero power to the dash ignition switch when switched to ignition, faint power when in accessories mode. Would a faulty regulator/rectifier be the culprit? I've changed the switch itself , but still no power.

@@ClandestineRider78 I’ve had my bike sputtering like that with a bad battery being the issue. I would test the battery first with everything off you should have 12-12.5 volts dc. If there’s less than that, charge it up and start the bike. You should get around at least 14 volts with it running, if not do the couple tests I did in the beginning of the video. If you take the battery to an auto parts store they’ll test it for you right there too

@johnmaher77 The battery is new. I've tested all my circuit breakers and relay. Everything passed on the multimeter. I have power at the different contact points on the ignition switch, but nothing to the starter or relay. I'm gonna check the right side handle bar switches to see if there is a short. If that checks out, guess I will get a new rectifier/regulator. We will see. Lol. Thanks for the quick reply!!!
