Really good explanation. Best use ever of a toilet roll spindle

I’ve been driving 20 miles to Buc-ees to buy non-ethanol fuel for years and use it exclusively in my outboard motor and small engines with absolutely no issues. I also use marine Stabil in the fuel.

you can put your parts to clean in a ziplock bag with a cleaning solution. seal it up removing as much air as possible. fill ultrasonic cleaner with plain water. drop ziplock into cleaner. this will clean parts without gunking up the sonic cleaner and using less cleaning agent.

Supper great video! I liked the toilet paper roll for a carburetor how it works. I'm going to try it for my self.

Thanks for posting this video. Every single piece of lawn equipment I owe does this surge thing. Never understood why. I switched to ethanol free fuel last year, but most of my equipment is old and I'm sure it's full of ethanol gunk. I've never taken a carburetor off of a small engine, but I'll have to learn and just do it. Can't find a small engine mechanic worth his salt in my area. I have various brands of small engine manufacturers on my equipment (Cub Cadet has a Kawasaki engine. Honda's have Honda's, DR's have Briggs and Stratton I think, not sure what Stihl has) but I am assuming they are all about the same? I'll just video myself taking it off and apart and hope I can get it back in place and together correctly. Thanks again.

The 2 stroke stuff is a little different. Any of the small engine 4 stroke stuff is all pretty similar.

Wow this was fun and interesting! Felt like it was an auto mechanics class for the first time. I just cleaned my throttle body and maf on my vehicle. I know it's fuel injected. Just replaced a spark plug in my regular push mower and sprayed some carb cleaner. Runs pretty good now. I'm gonna do some of the stuff you mentioned here and make it run like a champ. Why not it's so simple.

I never knew that the float, rubber seals and gaskets don't have any issues of abrasion or weakening from the ultrasonic cleaning.

These little carbs are so easy to work on, and if you use any kind of ethanol fuel, it WILL gunk up. There is no if. I do this every spring, and have no problems with how the engine runs at all.

Most of the videos I see for cleaning 4 Stroke motorcycle carbs show them tearing the entire carb apart in all pieces / components before cleaning. I realize that this is the ultimate way to clean a carb.... My question is will the above method work just as well on a motorcycle carb as it did on the zero turn carb? Did you take any gaskets off that you came across or were they just fine in the dish soap mixture? Was there a certain ratio of dish soap to water? (ie. 2-3 squirts per tank or just enough till you see suds?) Was the water warm or does that even matter? Thanks in advance for any more info. you provide. I really enjoy your videos. They are super helpful.

If the gasket comes off easily, I take it off. If it's stuck I leave it in place. I've never had a problem soaking the gasket with the carb. If you watch close, I soaked the carb with one of the gaskets on it because it was stuck. I've done this method with ATV carbs and it works great. Just blow out the air bleeds and jet with compressed air. Heat the water, it helps. Use as much Dawn as you feel like. Just put fresh water in before you final cleaning.

Very thorough video and really enjoyed the "how a carburetor works" explanation/demonstration. I think it would have been even better if you showed removing the float, cleaning the needle and it's seat, removing/cleaning the jet screw, and wiring out the jet(s) - things you mentioned at the start of the video as being the usual culprits in causing the carb to malfunction.

Interesting Thanks for posting this. I'm use berrymans B12 in the riding lawnmower. Mostly run non ethanol but hopefully it helps clean the valves.
