In this loft makeover, designer Luca Campacci of Level Studio plays up the industrial building’s aesthetic with exposed ceilings, concrete floors and a book-lined den with custom metal doors. See how he turned the dated kitchen into a sleek hub with a white waterfall island contrasted by a moody black backsplash, seamless cabinets and clever push-open appliances. Plus, don’t miss the vibrant pops of color throughout!

Right at the start with Mr. Campacci's meticulously trimmed beard and confident voice, this project better be perfect. No disappointment. Everything addressed is improved. Overall sophistication exponentially raised. Not too much, yet not so sparse as to be cold. Great yellow choice for sofa; easily could have been too chrome or overly mustard. Great eye to appear so youthful. Really nice, good feel. Client has to be happy with results.

Finally a library that’s not only floor to ceiling but includes a sliding ladder! Would’ve loved to see a bar incorporated into the shelving (personal preference - doesn’t take away from the library). Just add some Devialet Phantoms throughout the space & that’s a wrap!

It's too funny how you pulled me up for a spelling mistake but failed the comprehension test. I never said I was a "designer" or an expert, that's your projection, but I can interpret trends without applying them in a slavish fashion. Black is, in fact, my favourite colour and I have used it in my present bathroom and in the past one (long before it became commonplace) without it being a cliche. We are done here, but you can keep flogging that dead horse.

Okay, so I'm not a fan of the Modern look and find it hard to live with, but THIS is a very nice and inviting space that I can definitely admire and appreciate. I especially love his use of color and that book-lined den! That being said, the bedroom is a major disappointment. He called it "calming," but it just looks boring and unfinished when compared to the public spaces. White walls, white bedding, minimal furniture, and wide-open windows are in no way "calming."

@0:54, that matt black finish is going to be a fingerprint magnet, especially as there are no handles. @1:45, that is a dust and debris trap. Ugh, black metal is so played out and will instantly date the space to the second half of the 2010s. Books as a backdrop to an online call is so distracting. People trying to read the books on the shelves won't be paying proper attention. @7:43, well the television wasn't perched halfway up the wall, but I see the barn door cliche. Designers need to step outside of the tickbox template and do something different. I have a list of at least 30 things that I hope stops happening in home makeovers.
@fiddlersthree8463
@fiddlersthree8463 Жыл бұрын
Oh dear!!! As for all your complaints, let's have a look at them. "... that matt (sic -- it's actually "matte." Would have thought an experienced "do-upper" would know that.) black finish is going to be a fingerprint magnet." Some people don't mind doing a quick wipe to take care of fingerprints, and we don't really know if this material even shows fingerprints. There is even "fingerprint-less" stainless steel these days, so this material may be fingerprint resistant. I would have thought someone as informed as you claim to be would know this. "... dust and debris trap." Again, some people don't mind doing a quick wipe of their kitchen beyond just the counter tops rather than just let it build up. Not labour-intensive, really. "...black metal is so played out..." Really??? I've never heard a designer say that. Some things are classic and can be applied in many imaginative ways. Saying a particular material is "played out" shows a lack of imagination in creative usage. "Books as a backdrop to an online call is so distracting." What???? Who spends time reading books in the backdrop? Hundreds if not thousands of professional online commentators and so on have books as a backdrop. You would prefer what, a blank wall? ",,,the barn door cliche (sic)." Yes, barn doors became CLICHÉS because everyone used them in all sorts of inappropriate ways in inappropriate designs. Thank heavens the farmhouse rage has died, taking its barn doors with it. However, there are still appropriate uses for barn doors. Throwing barn doors out with the farmhouse craze again shows a lack of imagination and the knowledge that just because something is overused and abused doesn't mean it doesn't' still have legitimate use in appropriate spaces and designs like industrial. Please allow the rest of us to share in your 30 things you hope stop happening. And perhaps you could also share your design credentials with us. You seem to have attended a design school with very odd ideas. Also, would you please provide us a link to your last "do-up" so we can be enlightened and learn from your expertise? Please allow space for comments.

I just don't understand why anyone would pay somebody to do this simplistic so-called "design". A lot of design rules are ignored and/or not implemented right. For example: why are the windows not painted black? The den windows are and the windows aren't . This alone is already a missed chance for a great design. It just looks very basic and plain. Not exciting at all! And why would you call it industrial again?
@fiddlersthree8463
@fiddlersthree8463 Жыл бұрын
Did we just watch the same video???? Why where the windows not painted black??? Why should they be? Just because every non-thinking designer uses black window frames??Good grief. Black window frames?? If you want to nail your designer's feet to the early 2010's, the by all means, black window frames will do that in spades.
