Hi Laura- here in the United States, Camay bar soaps of varying fragrances (typically floral) can easily be found in Mexican and Latino supermarkets/grocery stores. In contrast, they are rarely if ever available in regular/western grocery stores. If anyone is a bar soap enthusiast in general, i HIGHLY recommend you check out your city's ethnic grocery stores! 😊😊😊

In the 60's my mom would buy Camay soap for her and me to use for bathing, but she didn't allow my dad or brothers to use it because cause it was too "special" for guys. She bought Ivory for them. From the age of 13 to 55 I washed my face every night with Noxema with great results. After menopause I switched to cleansing with Ponds cold cream and it does a great job on my older skin. I love the tried and true legacy brands!

Noxema is great for treating irritated skin, allergic rash, anti-itch, sunburn. It works when many prescriptions, ointments, or expensive creams don't work. I grew up using it as a face wash (which was a thing back then), but today I keep it around as a medicated cream for specific skin issues. 👍

My mom used Oil of Olay. I think it's the same formula...but would love a glass bottle. Never heard of frownies but know that the curl pink tape for hair was used. I still use all the rest. Love vintage smells that honestly are still a stable today !!!! ❤️(I will look for Camay... I think my grandma used it)

I saw my first Vintage Skincare video and really enjoyed your history lesson. I am 71 and have used all the products over the years. Camay Soap was/is OK, but Dove was more moisturizing. My older sister had skin allergies and I have used Noxema daily for 60 years. I am just about to suggest it to my 13 year old granddaughter! Noxema gives the clean skin feeling without drying out your skin! Back in the day (60's) it was rumored that Oil of Olay had turtle oil in it, so we avoided that to be kind to turtles. I started using Oil of Olay in the 90's and found their products quite nice and easy to use. My go-to brand for skincare in 2024 is Neutrogena for the hyaluronic acids and retinol formulas in gels and creams. One brand you forgot is Avon. During the 70's, 80's, and upward everyone I knew used their skincare products. In our age of instant everything, I don't know if people want to wait on the Avon orders anymore. I puchased their anti-acne proucts exclusively for my daughter in the 90's because of it"s superior quality. Well, keep up the good work, I am looking forward to more videos!

I used Clean and Clear, but for some reason, the facial wash and toner dried out my skin. The Dual Action moisturizer makes my skin soft and matte, but I now use the Walmart brand of Olay Complete and the Walmart brand of original Olay. I've been using Cetaphil gentle cleanser for the past nine months, and my skin just looks and feels better. I also use Pond's Cold Cream to remove my foundation, and I even use it on days when I don't use any makeup at all. It get's rid of dirt and oil. I don't use Noxzema as a cleanser-it tends to dry out my skin that way-but I do use Noxzema as a mask to keep my oily, sensitive at bay, and it helps my fine lines and wrinkles. I also use Pond's rejuveness anti-wrinkle cream, and I exfoliate every morning with St. Ive's Acne Control scrub. I use Dickenson's Witch Hazel-the original formula-to tone my skin, and get rid of oil, dirt, and makeup. I majored in theatre in college, and did community theatre for years, and used Pond's Cold Cream to remove my stage makeup. Baby wipes, and makeup remover wipes, dried out my skin, but Pond's Cold Cream gives my skin some moisturizer and also gives my skin some much needed TLC. I follow it with Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser. I was using Cover Clean Matte foundation for years, but when Cover Girl left Procter and Gamble, I feel like Cover Girl changed the formula, so I use ELF Satin finish foundation.

Please do a video about L’Occitane. They are not as old as well of Olay, Nivea, Noxzema, or Lux, but I would still consider them to be vintage. L’Occitane was founded in 1976 and their products continue to be popular today. They are a bit on the higher end for beauty products, but they’re worth it.

My first soaps were ivory, lifebouy, palmolive, and camay. I loved that Ivory floated, but Dove came to be a favorite as I came into teen years-along with Noxema as the blemishes came along. Clearacil was depended upon finally. Favorite of all: the sensual curves of Dove-so creamy and smooth, and the fragrance was mild. Oh yes, I’m now remembering Jergens! It had a fragrance I still long for. All the aforementioned were used until 1968, when I married. After that life became a stressful blur. Its 2023 now and for the life of me I don’t remember any beauty products used faithfully during that period! I did lots of sampling and changing…

I like Camay soap. I used it as recently as about five years ago. I could buy it at Publix in the US and online at Walgreens. I've seen it at Walmart, but the packaging is different. I think the version there is made in Mexico. I haven't tried it. The Camay I used is a very creamy soap. I feel like it really smooths, polishes, and cleans the skin. The fragrance is nice, too. It's a very distinctive fragrance, maybe a soft floral, but overall, Camay would leave me feeling nice and fresh. Camay also had some great advertising in the late '80s and early '90s featuring some highly successful models of the time, like Christy Turlington and Kara Young.
