Today we make a step for the fire cage of the truck and also get out of the shed and go and look as some crops!

A good investment would be a plasma machine.

John better go back to the drawing board. The way your putting the step on is going to restrict you getting the spare wheel down. Plus with the monitor , the plumbing extends pass the bracing ready to be bumped in timber. Hint cover the rear cabin glass and mirrors before grinding and welding , you'll find pits in the glass.

Use a piece of 1.5" angle iron as a guide.

A word of advice I've been a fabricator for over 40 years and really the best way to cut that is either with a plasma cutter, a circular saw with a metal blade or a torch with all using a straight edge you will have a lot better results.

21:30 love the job, fire has less places to burn. I haven't heard anything about a cabin atomizer a very fine mist to cool things down. Cheers

I’m a bit worried that you cut the platform sheet at 83cm now it’s not going to be supported on the edge. I would have cut it at 90 cm and just cut out where your uprights are. Awesome video though JH keep it up you’re doing fantastic. Your crops are looking heaps better than here in South Australia.

if you think that wheat is a problem in the barley I've had much worse. The old man was topping the truck up, emptied 1 silo went into the next silo forgot which is which put wheat on top of the barley didn't release I then filled up the air seeder didn't even look at the seed. Dad then found wheat in the ground when checking the seed depth, and then released what he had done. So he went and emptied the contaminated grain out of the truck and went and filled it back up, but he done it again( just wheat in the truck this time) In his wisdom he decided to empty that wheat out and that the contaminated barley would be ok to use after all because he believed it was only like 2-3 tone in there and it would blend together. It had to be more then 3 tone the next 350ha was interesting to say the least some parts where mostly wheat some where mostly barley I think we eventually planted it all out and got back to just barley at the end, but most of the 350ha was a good blend of the 2. It was a nightmare to sell. We got away with a good chunk of it but in the end we where left with 100 tone we couldn't do anything with which wasn't that bad considering how much we had.

In Regard to the remote controls for the fire cannon, the electrical wiring may not be long enough, but why not make it long enough to control from in the cabin of the truck?

I think that’s the plan

John your oxy torch may be okay although there was a recall some years ago as a new design was issued and all old torches were taken out of circulation. When you buy new tips get a few different sizes for different thicknesses of metal and buy some heating tips so that you don't spoil your cutting tips by overheating them. Tip cleaners are a good investment also and there are several different types on the market. To get a good cut comes down to good clean tips, correct pressure settings and proper use of hand piece. When cutting turn the oxy knob at the end of the hand piece all the way on so that you have full pressure going to your tip and then regulate the oxygen to the flame with the knob halfway down the handle. Light the torch, turn the acetylene or LP gas on until the flame jumps away from the tip and then back it off until it jumps back onto the tip. At this point you open the oxy knob and adjust for a good clean flame without feathering at the tip. When you press the oxy lever you should be able to see a good clear jet of oxy all the way down the flame. Your now set to go. Hope that's helpful. Thanks for sharing farm life I love watching what you are up to.

you can cut straight using the oxy if you use some tubing as a guide.

Mmm? Will the ramp for spare wheel still fold down with step there? Be a bugger to unload and reload in a hurry if it's not able to flod down properly

Once you weld all the sheet on you shouldn’t have any flex in the frame👍

Why don’t you make the floor removable and just tech screw it around the edges so you can get access to the gearbox and stuff instead of making whole cage removable.

Please put the 9" grinder up in the mezzanine, I have known a few people that have had injuries with them, one major injury loosing hand. With the oxy you can get a set of tip cleaners from welding stores and various size tips to suit what you are cutting. looks like type 41. Use the RHS clamped to the steel as a guide to the wheels for a straight line. Looking really good so far and with a bit of paint should be good.👍👍

I got whacked in the head with a 9 in grinder when it locked up. Heap of stitches in the gash above my eye, never used it hand held again.
